Enjoyed this movie .... bit of a twist on the fairy tale!
Production and effects visually stunning. A nice different twist on the story. Theron stunning. Can't make up my mind about Stewart as Snow White. I can see why she was cast but not sure she pulled it off. Hemsworth looked the part but seemed a bit wooden. Was ok I guess. Glad I watched it. See- mixed feelings lol
Excellent movie and story... Some say it was too violent, but the violence fit the story and era. Some complain that Snow White didn't smile, well he father was killed, her kingdom stolen, she was imprisoned for years, then on the run and constantly attacked, of course she's not going to smile... What's expected? ohh i'm being attacked, i'm so happy and should smile more. Oh look, my father is dead, i'm so happy, i must smile.
The acting was very well done, although those of us who grew up with Chris Hemsworth might find his accent in the movie kind of wrong, but while he did it well, it's more the typecast thing than anything.
I'd gladly buy the movie when i can as we all liked it very much.
I would love to watch the 3d version before i decided which one to buy.
I and husband watched this today we loved this movie.
Take away all the special effects and there is very little left. A drawn out weak story
overrated film i think...aside from the special effects, nothing really made us feel like oh wow, its as super a movie as everyone says. Dark, too many battles, kind of an unfinished ending...don't know, didn't think much of it at all
Didn't like this movie. It seem confused whether it wanted to be funny, childish or horror! I was bored all the way through!
We as a family found the movie enjoyable and retained our interest !!
Average. I fast forwarded through the battle scenes..boring and violent. Good performances by the leads and I kept thinking one of the seven dwarfs was Australian actor Jack Thompson!? Could it have been? I forgot to check the credits.
Quite good. A different take on the classic fairy tale.
Enjoyed the movie, found it entertaining :)
This...this was not good. Kristen Stewart as Snow White did not work. She is suppose to the more beautiful women in all the land. Yet she was barely more beautiful than 7 dwarfs with her emotionless persona. Very predictable storyline. No attachment to any of the characters. Turned off half way through my first viewing due to boredom. On my second watch, made myself watch the entire thing...got nothing from it.
Very enjoyable movie that inevitably draws you into the land of fairies, magic and fantasy, the age old contrast of evil and good. Great visual effects, story line easy to follow but definitely not recommended for the little'uns! Just that little bit too dark for what you usually associate with a version of Snow White.
Enjoyed the theme and costumes but the young lead actress Kristen? has no character in her face or body language.
Not a fan of Kristen Stewart and I imagined Snow White might smile a bit more and just have a more pleasant disposition. The rest of the cast are good though and special effects high quality.
very disappointed wit this one. Didn't like the snow white story's new version. it is mainly for adults. Didn't like the ending.
While I'm not a fan of Stewart, she did a decent job with her role, though Theron,Hemsworth and Ray Winstone who I was pleasantly surprised to find in this film as I was unaware of his role in it,fared much better with their roles.Although slow and a bit predictable it was still an enjoyable film to watch. The costumes, scenery locations and overall fantasy of a classic story brought to screen is brilliant if a little dark. I do believe they could have done better with the storyline but overall a great movie that sort of reminds me of the Rammstein song Sonne a little bit. Would not recommend for kids but otherwise a good movie to watch.
We didn't even bother watching this dvd so just returned it unwatched!
Preferred seeing this movie when it was on the Big-Screen. Good to sit through it again though.
You just can't have too many variations on fairy tales... this was not the absolute fairest of them all, but I watched it twice and will probably buy it at some point.
bit dark for my liking.....
Loved the grown up take on the classic tale, I hardly remembered it was a kids tale until the dwarfs took Snow White to their place. Fantastic, well done, well acted awesome watch.
How is Kristen Stewart "The fairest of them all", she looks constantly anemic and sleep deprived, not to mention the sticky-outy ears :) ! This was a hyped up movie that in some unexplainable way just never seemed to live up to it. You won't be missing much if you give this a miss.
A Real on the edge of your seat Movie, Fantasy Fanatic's will Love this Movie, I did and i Dont regret it one Bit.
This was a fantastic movie, Kristen Stewart was semsational in this movie. Well worth watching!
not bad I enjoyed it but I don't think I would watch it again
Kristens acting skills are better in this than a pervious saga. Interesting story line and SPFX. Fantastic movie for good night in
Enjoyed the more medieval aspect of Snow White, the evil queen was excellent, whole family enjoyed the movie for what it was.,
Promising start but failed to deliver. Stand out performance by The evil Queen " Charlize theron " as for Kristen Stewart, well I was waiting for the vampires to fly in and take a bite. Far from being the "fairest of them all ".
Awesome movie, lots of great effects and an interesting twist on the original Snow White.
Loved this film! I got lost in the story for the whole time the movie played & I thought all three main actors / actresses played their parts very well. Charlize Theron was particularly good as the evil Queen & I liked the little romance twist! :)
Somewhat predictable and don't believe the hype, Kristen Stewart is completely devoid of personality in this film - as usual. It's also hard to believe she could be the most beautiful in all the land. Maybe if you only look at buck toothed wing nuts she is!
Other problems - the music is pedestrian and cliche, and for some reason in this magical land Christianity is the prevailing religion. That's fine but it didn't really seem to serve a narrative (or other) purpose.
A new understanding of the classic tale with moody sets and both dark and mythical landscapes. However the film seemed short and some elements of the story were thin. One character in the film, Snowhite's cousin for example I would have liked to see much more of and his life explained.
A really good way to spend a couple of hours, I enjoyed it, by the way rather than bagging Kristen Stewart simply don't hire her movies.
OK, not as good as I expected. Probably got rave reviews due to Australian cast member.
The only problem with this movie is that Kristen Stewart is supposed to be "the fairest of them all". Bad casting. Maybe she only got the role because she slept with the director.
very good movie you must see loved it
Excellent watch - every minute was entertaining. I would be happy to watch this again and again
i know this movie was highly rated but it really didn't do it for me. Other than Charlise Theron, I found the other actor's weak and the whole story was to Americanised for me. We were sliding off our chairs with boredom.
This was as good as I expected it to be.
Wow, really loved this movie. Will have to buy at some point. Really well done
Excellent. I have not been so scared of the dark forest since I saw the original Disney movie of Snow White when I was 4 yrs old.( I am now in my 60's) Not so sure about Kristen Stewart as Snow White though?. I don't think she "got it"? Snow White is to me a mystical figure - did not get that from KS"s portrayal. Loved the dwarves & the special effects. Good movie.
OK, we all know the story of Snow White, however this is a different approach and is quite a good watch.
Was alright until the dwarves started singing.
This movie was absolute shite! even a Hemsworth couldn't distract from Kristen's appalling acting skills
Animation & cinematography excellent. but this movie not for my age group (60's), rather a teen flick, spells & magic fairy tales etc ok but script basic & a few holes. Movie long & a bit boring in parts. Theron always good, the dwarfs excellent top British actors. Only very average night's entertainment
Absolutely brilliant!! Loved the whole thing - special effects were outstanding, as was Charlize Theron as the wicked queen. Just a shame they cast Kristen Stewart as Snow White! Whovever said this girl can act must have been drunk at the time. She was a real let down in what was otherwise an outstanding movie. A real must see.
Great movie better than I thought it would be. Some very good acting.
Great Great Great !!!! Loved It!!!!
While the story isn’t original ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ is a real winner. Its special effects are excellent as is the directing, acting and especially the script. I love remaking of classics and Rupert Sanders delivers with this film. Components of the original story are kept and supplemented with imaginative additions. The cast all look as though they are having a great time and none disappoint - thoroughly enjoyable.
Excellent movie. A must see.
Whatever Kristen Stewart is paying her agent, it is not enough. Of all the sword and scorcery in this film the hardest thing to swallow was the suggestion that any mirror, enchanted or otherwise, would ever describe Kristen Stewart as "faIrest"" in a kingdom inhabited by Charlize Theron. This being said, an enjoyable enough fantasy adventure.
It has a twist, it is surfprising who the wolf is.
Quite a good movie. I was ensure if our 12year old daughter would watch this and the movie was fine. I think you either like Kirsten Stewart or your don't. Her acting matched what was the storey line of Twilight however she needs to change it up a bit in other acting roles. Charlize Theron was outstanding in this movie. Great effects. Good night in movie.
Everything was excellent - except for Snow White (Kristen Stewart). Her performance was so appalling that, for me at least, it ruined what would otherwise have been an enjoyable movie. I have given an OK rating due to everything else, but almost gave a Never Again, as I will never again watch this due to her.
This was surprisingly enjoyable. Great special effects and a fun twist on an old classic.
Lacked a bit of plot, and a bit over acted.
watched this movie on a rainy saturday afternoon, was thoroughly enjoyable. definitely worth watching.
My housemate and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie
Definitely 'mind blowingly beautiful'. I didn't particularly like Charlize Theron as the Queen / Evil Stepmother, I just couldn't get into her performance, it was a bit too try-hardy.. I loved the dwarves, great effects!
Theron was great as the Dark Queen, but Snow White was a horribly flawed character. You can't be "pure and innocent" if you go out and stab someone to death in the name of vengeance. What a joke of a movie.
Was OK good effects and a good evil witch.
it starts with some great special effects but then becomes very cliched and ultimately boring. An OK movie but not great.
Great movie with an interesting twist to the snow white and seven dwarfs tale.
Just never quite fully engaged me. I'm guessing I wasn't the target demographic but it's an OK fantasy adventure.
Loved Charlize Theron's version of the wicked queen. But I don't rate the movie very highly. Too many holes in the plott.
The effects, cinematography, much of the plot -- these were not bad. The hunter was great, the duke's son was great, the villains were pretty good, but Snow White.. er.. the acting was odd, to say the least. To be fair, it wasn't just her: the character was rather poorly written up. And a major part of the plot had too many holes -- at head-scratching levels.
Charlize Theron's performance is as convincing as a staged Snooki tantrum but with less conviction.
Chris Hemsworth is the discount Wal-Mart version of Brad Pitt with the voice acting skills of a drawstring puppet.
It tries hard but the acting lets it down, I expected more from mega-budget actors. Its only redeeming features are the CGI.
Interesting special effects, better than Mirror Mirror
loved it and would watch it many times over!
Loved it, Loved it, Loved it went straight out and bought a copy of our own.
Entertaining but also disappointing, everyone did their best but !!!!!!!!!!!
Ok ... I did enjoy this but was very disappointed. The best thing about it was CT's performance - she was absolutely outstanding. The rest of the cast were very average and I felt that CH was really lacking effort - his character had so much more potential but he was very flat, and I agree with the other opinions about his accent, which changed throughout the scenes. KT also lacked character and the potential was never achieved for Snow White's character. However having said all that - I really liked the grim, darkness of it and the cinematography was great. Best part was CT's portrayal of the evil queen in my opinion.
A fairly good 'special effects' flick.
The best version of the classic story I've seen, less Disney and more Lord of the Rings. Kristen Stewart is lovely as Snow White. Chris Hemsworth plays a muddier version of Thor. Charlize Theron manages to be beautiful and ugly at the same time. And the familiar faces cast as the dwarves were a wonderful surprise for me.
Well paced movie with an interesting take on the fairytale. Finish was a bit rushed and lacked the depth that the rest of the movie deserved - would have been close to the 5 stars with a great ending. Overall though, very enjoyable.
saw this in theatres. its utterly pathetic. there some good acting mixed with some pretty bad acting. the story isnt epic, it is boring and stupid. some of the effects are good, others can only pass as servicable. theres alot of unintentional comedy that is quite hilarious but apart from that this movie is no fun and shouldnt be watched. unfortunately it made alot of money which it didnt deserve. i was dragged along to see this movie and i didnt enjoy it at all. strong not recomend
Fabulous movie -- very well done indeed. Chris Hemsworth is undoubtedly the next big thing in Hollywood -- but why anyone would think Kristen Stewart is "fairer" than the beautiful Charlize Theron, I have no idea...
another variation of the acclaimed fable, darker than 'mirror mirror', more like a grimm bros. tale. worth a watch, good effects coupled with typical hero/ damsel in distress theme throughout. Not boring, seems to move along at a 'keep interested' rate. recomended for the dedicated 'fairytale' addicts
Through the strains of strained music, wooden acting, Chris Hemsworth not sure whether he was Irish, Scottish or Australian (new scene, new accent) and cute animations this dragged on to it's obvious conclusion. Saved in part by quality actors like Ray Winstone and Toby Jones this was a disappointment. Okay, it's a teen chick flick but not a good one and fails as a fantasy movie.
great movie, very fun, chris hemswoeth was amazing!
Great cinematic feel to it (visually stunning landscapes, elaborate production designs and a grand 'fellowship' theme) but with a rather darker and sinister storyline for a lovable fairytale. Could have easily been an MA classification, so it’s a no for the young kids/teens that are screaming and hoping for Kristen's Bella to hook-up with a Norse God in Chris (rather than the 'ordinary' relationship with a wolf of a blood-sucker). Felt a bit rushed to fit the whole screenplay in 2 hours and not the fairest movie of them all BUT is still a definite worth of a watch.
Was good, but enjoyed John Carter so much more! Charlize & Chris were great!
without a doubt one of the best movies it was great from start to finish, the acting by the 3 main characters chris, kristen, charize felt realistic, the story was fantastic, the picturing was beautiful.
