Excruciatingly bad... that's all folks!
Pretty awful only watched 10 minutes of it
Abosolute rubbish, not even worth a single star rating
this movie ifs not that good I have seen better then this .but if you like slow movie s and sci-fi movie its ok
Good watch-once thriller movie. Great ending...
I love how isolated the storyline is in the events.
This movie wasnt thought out well the ending was rediculous there was no reason why the aliens visited.
This was a low budget film without any big celebrities.
Skyline . . . what can I say? . . . . First . . . "contains spoilers" . . so if you want to be surprised . . . DON'T READ!
I would imagine you could call it an "Independence Day" remake but with out the bloody 'Yippee- ki- yay Heros' to the rescue at the last minute.
About bloody time! Should an alien invasion occur THIS is most likely to be a depiction of the hopeless siege that it would be.
The effects are pretty good for a fairly limited budget but it didn't make me "feel" the worldwide apocalyptic alien takeover that’s supposed to be unfolding in the plot.
There is a whole lot of running and hiding and then losing and having your brain ripped out anyway, which is what kinda pisses most people off and can make them angry which has been reflected in most reviews. (critic or not)
For me personally, as I watched it, I felt it started out with a "Cloverfield" feel about it ** yeah ho hum ** then - suddenly it took on the "Independence Day" genre . . . that was when I swore out loud! ** Oh #%*@ no! **
v.v SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT v.v
I thought OK that's the suspense over. But nothing worked . . the military kept throwing every thing they had at the aliens until the military (aka USAF) starts an attack on the spaceships using several X-47B aircraft with an escort screen of MQ-9 Reaper drones armed with (I believe) Hellfire missiles. All the aircraft are destroyed on the first attack approach except for one X-47B which gets destroyed just as it fires (I believe) an AGM-129 missile armed with a nuclear warhead at the alien 'baseship' The resulting explosion damages the ship tearing it apart as it falls, crashing onto the surface, Oliver, the building's concierge, watches through the telescope and sees there is no sign of activity from the wreckage **happy happy joy joy** ha! knew it! yippee- ki- yay Independence Day. Everyone gets to look through the telescope to gloat over the victory until Jarrod looks and he sees blue lights appear again then the ship slowly begins to repair itself and starts to fly again. ..... WTF! HEY this is new . . . the aliens survive a direct nuclear hit . . . WERE DOOMED!
Suddenly I'm no longer bored this plot. Suddenly the storyLINE has taken on a new lease on life. Suddenly it has a new twist . . . what is it? . . . . it can't be total obliteration of the human race . . . hey wait a minute Jarrod was effected twice and he appears to be altering . . . . maybe that's it . . . a band of 'super humans' strike back . . . no can't be that . . . PLEASE don't let it be that. This is when the, up til now rather ho-hum, movie turns into something almost 'brain absorbingly' brilliant. **sorry** ^_^ Oh No! It IS hopeless fighting them . . . but wait, what's this?
I was totally amped up trying to out think the plot running several possible senario's at once when it hit me . . . YES! THAT'S IT!
And then it ended! **sitting mouth open staring at credits** Man was I pissed! That was when I realised this was not THE MOVIE this was just the prelude! The REAL MOVIE will start in SKYLINE II.
This movie ended way too soon . . so if you hate that don't watch it.
Me . . all I can say is . . . . if Greg and Colin Strause do not follow up with Skyline 2, 3, 4, etc. THEN I will really hate this film for finishing the way it did, as it is, I just can't wait for the next in the SERIES.
Joshua Cordes - Liam O'Donnell - Well done on a brilliant piece of writing, just keep the twists coming.
Robb B-)
Shame, for some reason didn't show up as "Already Seen" Peeved as it wasn't one to watch twice...OK but not to keep watching
Another movie about brain eating aliens who come to earth to harvest it's population ( boring ). The first twenty minutes have nothing to do with the rest of the movie and after that it's all downhill from there. Not bad special effects, script could have been written by a 10 year old and the ending is one of the worst I have ever seen. Save yourself the trouble and don't bother with this one
100% pure drivel - not worth the electricity bill used to generate the billions of pixels that lead the audiene on a very unsatisfying and unorigianl ride.
not bad little entertaining, not bad for low budget film
Not much to like about this alien invasion film at all. The CGI FX are fine, but there's no plot to speak of, the acting is poor and there is no reason to become involved in the characters' plight at all. And as many others have commented, the ending makes no sense whatsoever.
Good fun. An alien-invasion movie with excellent monsters, a human poopulation being wiped out, and a very downbeat ending.
Not my kind of Sci-Fi. No science at all, just SFX. Was in a few ways very similar to "Clover Field" if I got the name right. I did not like that one either but at least this one did not use a shakey hand-held camera for all of the filming as that one did. Had something in common with "Day of The Triffids" too but not enough to make it good. If you liked "Clover Field" you will like this one too.
Interesting and quite riveting in it's own scary fashion. The ending suggested more interesting things to come.....
very very ordinary, pinched ideas from other Alien invasions
great effects, average plot, stupid ending. Lost potential
I thought this was a great piece of sci-fi. It was extremely realistic and the aliens were different from any I had seen ie I haven't seen them in another movie. I think too many people want to see the hero come riding up on his white charger (you know he's the hero because he has a white hat) shoot everything in site then everybody lives happily ever after. You have to believe thay an alien race that has conquered star travel is likely to be a difficult opponent (to say the least) and so it proves here. The finale had a real twist to it. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Very disappointing ending - overall not the greatest movie - actually it was rubbish!
Pretty gross really. Very poor ending, seemingly just to get a bit of the 'happily every after' feel.
the last 20 minutes totally destroys this movie. Maybe someday they will recut witha better ending.
Agree that I wasted my time
I have wanted to see this movie since it was advertised for screening at the cinema, unlike most Alien invading movies, this one has the be the best I have ever seen. Instead of it just being about the Main Mothership, or having to get past the shields, this movie really shows you the immense possibilities that could be so real if it was proven there were Alien's and if they did attack. The aliens had many different machines to use and the ability of changing their brains to keep themselves from being killed is amazing. I loved it and will soon be buying it from the DVD store to add to my collection. Great movie, 5 thumbs up.
I would have to say this would have to be the WORST Alien movie I have ever seen. There was no story line at all the ending left open for a squeal which Praise God I hope will never happen all the characters along with many other innocent victims are sucked up into the alien craft and the brains are sucked out of there bodies with the entrails still attached and a mother alien feeds on this and produces another alien if you are pregnant then you survive. The special effects were not bad made by the same crew that did Avatar. If you were on drugs you might enjoy this movie personally it was boring.
This film was absolute garbage and an utter waste of time.
Worst Sci-Fi EVER . . . . Had potential with decent Special affects.. But in the end it is let down by a script that was written by a 7th Grader and acting so bad it makes the cast from Transformers (1,2,or 3 - take your pick) look like a true dramatic genius. Dissapointed that even TURK from Scrubs wasn't even funny. Can't even call it cliched because that would insult better cliched movies.... If you want to waste one of your movies on this tripe - go ahead . . . BUT you have been warned.
PS - I can't give it negative stars, so zero will have to do
didn't start off too bad but deteriorated rapidly into a ridiculous ending!
Still yawning now I know how those people who expexted big things from (and hated) Independence Day feel. Cynical ending and no soul.
Saw it at the movies with my 12yo and at the end he said 'I dare you to stand up and clap'....absolute rubbish I wanted the characters ti die more quickly so it would end
don't bother. disappointing story - oh was there one - disappointing acting - yes, they paid them - overall they wasted a lot of money and then put it on a dvd.
Great critters, cool effects, crap movie. Derp!
If I'd seen it at the cinemas I'd have wanted half my ticket price back, as it's like seeing half a movie. They shoud have thought of an ending for it before they started.
Cloverfield walks all over this.
This movie is very similar to Cloverfield in terms of plot. It differs in that this is an actual film as opposed to the 'found footage' style used in Cloverfield. There is little to no plot, the characters are there but they don't make you feel engaged and it lacks because of this and more. You never understand why this is happening, it just is. The only saving grace for this film is that the special effects are really good, everything looks as though it is really happening, but this still isn't enough to redeem the entire film. Apparently the directors are talking about a sequel and if this is true I hope they fix the problems that this movie has.
This is what happens when talented technical people are given the chance to make a movie without the creative drive or experience. This movie is great visually (although it owes a lot to Indepedance Day and War of the Worlds) but the dialogue is clunky, the plot is lumpy and the ending is unsatisying. It has a real "film school graduation film" feel about it.
ok for a sci fi but again a bit far fetched but enjoyable
For a low budget movie the special effects were pretty good but I can't say the same for the actors. None of the characters impressed me. The first half hour of the movie was slow and boring. I nearly wanted to turn it off but then the action finally started. I then enjoyed the suspense but the lame characters and bad acting drag the whole thing down. What a shame because it had the potential to be a great movie if the script writing and acting had been better. The abrupt ending made me feel quite annoyed and ripped of for spending my time watching it. I thought there was a disc error which made the movie stop in the middle of a scene but that we the ending. Very strange but I bet they will make a sequel.
Silly plot of aliens attacking. It is good to see the 50s sci fi theme back but the acting, script & plot was below par.
Some scenes had me running to the fridge so I didn't have to watch them as it was quite suspenseful at times and had me on the edge of my seat. Then they stuffed it up with a total nauseating ending. Couldn't believe they finished it like they did. 3 stars for suspense, 0 for believability. -0 for the ending.
Excellent special effects but has no real plot
Good movie plenty of science fiction, you are unsure of what was going to happen next. We both liked it.
The premise behind this film was bigger than their budget could put on to screen; but even worse was putting as a postscript the film's one big idea of love transcending human transformation, which made the preceding 90 minutes of blood and gore just plain gratuitous.
I'm a big sci-fi fan and this one had me going for awhile. However, the last 5 mins of the film was unnecessary and went too far for no good reason. .... unless they're planning Skyline 2... ? Uh oh.
This movie was more of a clone of Cloverfield and War of the Worlds than anything original, was good SciFi viewing but definitely not a movie that was worth paying the big bucks to see at the picture theater. Is one in many of those now being made the reporter style of sense.
I really enjoyed this film it had me on the edge of my seat, perhaps the ending could have been better this probably let the film down.
silly movie not impressed unrealistic
This film is much better than the critics say it is! It's a high-budget science fiction film with a low-budget sensibility. It reminded me of 'Cloverfield' in the way it concentrated on a small group of people, 'Night of the Living Dead,' and some low-budget Nineteen-Fifties science fiction films. A bonus for science fictions fans (that read science fiction, that is) is that it ends the way 'Independence Day' SHOULD have ended, although I suspect the final scene was added on after they showed it to audiences. True science fiction shouldn't have a 'happy ending.'
stupidest movie i ever saw LOL
A bit far fetched, exaggerated type of movie! Not really worth wasting your time watching.
Lacked any real plot apart from people running around terrified
Some reasonable graphics but this was the only highlight. Story line was just so lame and the ending only lets you know that they are going to inflick a sequel. The acting was perhaps one step below average. Would not recommend to any SciFi buffs at all.
seemed like a poor rip off of War of The Worlds not that that was a good movie either
Good action but slow and bad ending. Just finshed
Seen better, also seen worse.
Not a bad movie to begin with however it has no real ending. Quite dissapointing that it just ends. Lots of action but little story line, would not reccommend this movie.
Don't waste your time-bad acting, bad sound, no story, no reason, no creativity, no wholistic approach, no build up, pathethic end and the alien's are not even that good. Can I bag the movie anymore, oh! And don't worry about the sequel, it could even be worse. I hope they don't make a follow up movie.
Absolute rubbish. Infact calling this movie rubbish is an insult to rubbish
Not as good as I thought, reminded me a bit of War of the Worlds
The ending ruin it for me on Skyline - Im sitting there and actually said WTF! Think the movie couldve gone for another hour to finished it up properly, but Im hoping there's a sequel.
But all in all it was a good movie, yet the ending spoiled it.
again another LA flop. where do they get their ideas. mind altering drugs? here take another pill and we got the plot just crap again.
the worst acting that i ever observed. 30 minutes in, and 12 speed was full on. at fast forward it started to make sense. Is that strange? or what?
Disappointing! 2 stars for the sfx. No storyline. Waiting for the movie to end to see what was actually going to happen. Wonky camera work on the steady cam? Bad sound transfer! Won't bother to talk about the acting!
"They're not dead, they're just really pissed off" - what a joke.
Wasn't that great. I thought that there be more millitary action instead of those people. The movie keeps pulsing and these funny green square appears. Its happend to my other movies ive watched.
Some cool SFX in this, but it was let down by fairly weak acting, and a story line that didn't go anywhere.
Not quite what I expected; great conceptualisatiin but the final conclusion was a little lack lustre and very 'game oriented'. I will click on '2 stars' but only because I can't give it 1.5 stars.
Great rainy day entertainment. (Obviously spent the budget on special effects, not actors). Characters were too hopeless for me - perhaps everything turned out for the best afterall.
If it wasn't for the "Aliens" this movie would have no plot or interest value whatsoever!
Wow - What a shocker!! I love cheesoid movies such as Independence Day etc, but this is just so bad in every aspect.
Glad I did not pay the $30 it would have cost my husband and I to go and see it. Just as the movie got good it ended and that was only in the last 5 mins of the movie. If there is a number 2 we won't be getting it.
good movie i thougth, ending wrong
I am afraid this movie has to be one of the worst i have seen in a while while. Terrible ending!
If Rebecca Black wrote a screenplay, it would be called "Skyline".
The SFX were fantastic but unfortunately the best part of the movie - the acting sections were stilted and boring - I kept waiting for the SFX to start again. The ending set it up for a #2 - I hope the investors see sense.
not worth the time i spent watching it.
WORST MOVIE - EVER!!!!! Walked out when I saw it at the cinema!
POINTLESS storyline, bad acting and total waste of $15
Pathetic. Lacked believability, plot, acting skills and imagination. The directors should be named the Brothers Grimm it was so bad. Give it a skip and just watch War of the Worlds, a much better flick.
What a load of junk, worst movie of the year so far
A good effects movie but light on story. It could also have used at least one well known actor (the dude from 'Scrubs' doesn't count).
yawn...yawn..yawn..., poor story line and bad ending.
This is by far one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time and I LOVE SiFi.. The acting was equally as poor. The plot was so unlikely that it became ridiculous, yet they had to throw in the formula based love story and deceit. All of this was only outdone by the horrible ending.
BORING! PREDICTABLE. DO NOT RECOMMEND
If only they could have a minus 770 star, I would happily given it that.
Unfortunately I have to rate it the 1 star that it does not deserve.
Biggest piece of rubbish ever to come out of Hollywood. The directors can do fx really well, but direct the actors, write a interesting script or even think of a good ending is just beyond them.
Save your money, save your time and play Twister (naked)....trust me, a lot more fun than watching this piece of stinking, smelly, rotten, yucky doo doo (that came from the Directors butt).
Please Quickflix create a minus 770 star rating
Just an appalling piece of writing and acting. In the final scene I could not find a face big enough to palm. The special effects were impressive but the directors/writers came from an SFX background. let's be honext, they should not have given up their day jobs.
If you want something silly to watch then go for it. If you want to watch something as promising as the trailer suggests then find something else.
A bad version of Independence Day. How this garbage ever made it to the big screen surprises me.
Well, this movie had great special effects, good aliens, some decent concepts and humanity was pretty much wiped out, so what's not to like? It didn't spoon feed you with what was going on, but it also didn't tell you very much. Where does the ending leave you? Is there another movie to explain anything? I'm getting sick of mystery, which seems to be in fashion these days. I can see this as an entertaining short story, but as a movie it could have used more. Worth a watch though.
