It's atestament to what a fine movie this is, that it loses nothing on second viewing, despite knowing the sting in the tail. In fact, in many ways it becomes more interesting on subsequent viewings. Performances are excellent, particularly Haley Joel Osment, and Bruce Willis gets to show his real acting talent. Even though I've seen it before, the tension is gripping, the child's fear palpable, and the ending reduced me to tears (again!).
Although fairly old now this movie was a good thriller about a young boy who 'sees dead people'. There is a good twist in the tail which is great if you notice it early on as everything else then makes sense. A child psychologist is appointed to help him with this frightening experience in the child's life.
Great movie, not a real horror film as some would believe-- more of a thriller!
What a classic. Watched it 100's of times.
I guessed the plot twist early on. Certainly a lot of fuss at the time of release. A shame the main boy actor never went onto continued success. He does seem rather annoying now, 13 years on.
Never understood what the fuss was about with this film. Well made, but the kid annoys me. Predictable twist too.
Very good movie - Well worth a watch.
It was my second viewing - a necessity for this film to see it through different eyes. great./
Movie about a boy who sees dead people who dont know there dead.
Lots of closeup shots of tortured faces.
It all seemed abit long to me,with Willis looking bored in the role.
Perhaps he is better as a killer cop.
The main story is displayed mostly at the beginning, but with a
good twist at the end.
Watched this movie years ago and it was good then. Watched it again this week and I'm equally as impressed as I was the first time I watches it. Luckily I'd forgotten most of what happened and the twist got me again. Great movie.
If you have not seen this movie before you will want to watch it twice.
great movie, excellent acting
SPOILER ALERT: Like most of M. Night Shyamalan's films, we get style over substance in this clever but flawed film; flawed because the plot just doesn't quite hold up under scrutiny. We are expected to adhere to the rule that the character of the little boy states, that the ghosts only see what they want to see. This rule is put forward as a way of glossing over the question of what Bruce Willis' character was doing for the year between his death and meeting the boy and, for example, what sort of conversation did he have with the boy's mother in that scene where the boy comes home from school to find both his 'psychologist' and mother in the living room (it's hard to believe that a one way conversation would work form this relationship in the way that we are able to believe between his wife and him). While Bruce's character seems to have all his other mortal faculties in place, it is just too difficult to believe that he doesn't question these other aspects of his (after) life; the inconsistency is just too great to bear up. That said, Shyamalan's style and the imagery he gives us is quite wonderful. The relationships between characters are also nicely drawn. However, it is the ironic structure of the film - that the psychologist believes in saving the boy he will overcome his guilt over the suicide of his former patient (that occurs at the beginning of the film) and so save himself, but which is not the most important way he saves himself - is what is the most satisfying thing Shyamalan gives his audience.
absolutely fantistic movie, very spellbinding , found I was totally enthralled with it, don,t often get a movie that keeps my full attention, found both Bruce Willis and the child actress performed fantisticly
Very interesting movie with a rather unexpected ending!
Without giving anything away, you simply must watch this movie.
loved it! Second time that i have watched the movie and it was as good as the first time.
Enjoyed movie but I thought it was going to be more frightening
i still jump everytime the woman goes to the kitchen!!! nicely creepy and very well acted.
This is the all time best thriller movie, excellent storyline, great cast and all finished off with an ending that no one will see coming. A must see for everyone just one fantastic movie. Brilliant.
great twist, good story all in all the supernatural are a mystery
Cant remember another film with such a great twist in the end, it makes you want to watch the film again.
I couldn't wait to see this movie again! Toni Collette as usual is brilliant and the twist is always great....
Scary and thrilling! One of the best thrillers to come out in years. Bruce Willis is charming and Haley is wonderful as usual. Not to be missed and not one easily forgotten
Shyamalan is a genius!! The first "dead person" scene still makes me jump after many viewings!!
Keeps you glued to the screen, if you haven't seen it you would never pick how it ends...Excellent writing and acting A+A+A+
Brialliant movie, Brilliant acting - excellent ending that totally blew me away - I had to rewatch the movie over and over to figure out and understand the ending that still blows me away - excellent portrayed - Plus a totally unrecognisable former Band member New Kid on The Block - Donnie Wahlberg as the disgruntled patient who kills the good doctor Bruce Willis. - A movie that will always be rewatched over and over. - Well recomended to those who like thrillers with a twist at the end
Thoroughly enjoyed it as well as the twist at the end.
Every now and then they get a movie just right. Don't try to guess what will happen, forget the hype, just let the movie tell the story. Definitely top 5 material.
