Recommended to me by my father and grandfather, I was told this musical would be light-hearted and fun. While there exists no fallacy, I simply found so much singing and dancing a bit boring after the first half an hour and had to switch to some more contemporary comedy. In short, not bad but not something you would spend your Sunday afternoon watching.

I thought I would find this to be an interesting period piece but I was pleasantly surprised by just how entertaining it is and wowed by the stunning artistry of it all.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful, the costumes, the stars the storyline, was just magnificent. I had to watch from start to finish and watched it three times before I returned it. They just dont make movies like that anymore. Classic, Elegant, Stylish. A great Storyline. Loved it

A must-see. As a film teacher, I can tell you now, there isn't a person young or old that doesn't enjoy this film when it is shown. It is a true classic that stands the test of time. It is very funny, well-acted and is a nice piece of history on the "talkies" in Hollywood. This movie shows what true stars are all about, unlike so many of the pretty wannabes of today. Get it, enjoy it. Don't stop after the first 5 minutes, persist... you won't regret it....

This is undoubtedly an entertaining musical which successfully revamps many of the old classic songs of the era in which it was set. I have always felt, however, that it is overrated as "the best musical ever made". The 'modern (Gotta Dance)' section in the middle is over-long, irrelevant and confusing. I'm a fan of musicals but this has never been my favourite. Give me Sound of Music, Oklahoma or Grease any day...

Although it is past 50 years old still worth watching, the plot is threadbare but it is full of joy and hope.

Love it! Always have - Gene Kelly, Donald O'Conner (make 'em laugh!) and a young Debbie Reynolds; gorgeous cast, even Cyd Charisse in the Broadway Melody number! All movies should make us want to laugh and dance and feel happy!

It's with some trepidation that I watch movies like Singin' in the Rain. Sure, I loved it when I was a kid, but there's always the danger it'll disappoint as an adult. But Singin' in the Rain really is a classic - the pace, the dancing and the irrepressible energy of the cast make this a timeless masterpiece. Thoroughly enjoyable.
