We totally enjoyed the movie. Can't see why someone said Mel Gibson was disappointing, I thought he acted his role extremely well. It is not the fastest moving alien type movie but had plenty of tension building. Having said that the plot was reasonably predicable with some pretty big holes in the plot, but nevertheless well worth watching.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and loved the way everything was neatly wrapped up in the end. Good mix between a drama and a sci-fi.
A seat clenching, tension building movie. A must see for movie lovers who like to consider the motives of life from other planets. A raw look into peoples faith and how circumstances can often bringh us closer together.
Majority of the film is 4 stars. The ending is 3 stars. Ideally rated half way between. Why does the Alien just stand there at the end copping a beating???
Disappointing for a Shyamalan film. Mel Gibson was disappointing too. What a let down, I thought this was going to be sooo good after seeing the previews.
I know this movie got a lot of hype, but I found it very slow and boring. Actually, I gave up after 40 minutes
This movie is OK, but certainly not one of Mels' best.
Another well-told story, with a slight twist, from a very clever film-maker, writer. I have enjoyed watching every one of M. Night Shaymalan's contributions to viewing pleasure.
fast forward all the way. sooo dull. there is no plot. drivel. so bad, it still haunts me, that i may someday be exposed to another movie like this.
watch scary movie 3 instead.
M. Night Shyamalan's Third movie, (The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable) and not his best, this is the worst of the bunch but in saying that the other two are brilliant, Mel is great but just didnt grab me like his other movies, still a good watchable movie.
WARNING: bit of a spoiler coming up: i've liked other m night shyamalan films and generally like his slow paced build of tension, but this was ponderous. gibson was irritating as a lapsed minster who has lost his faith (and yet STILL manages to be holier-than-thou!) following the accidental death of his wife. boo hoo. now the spooky crop circles appear (cue music, fast-moving camera and close ups on mel's furrowed brow) and it looks like the end is nigh until mel finds his faith, says a prayer, everyone survives and i'm vomiting my popcorn'n'fanta combo over greater union's upholstery. the village, while being really slow, is a better idea, better executed and all round better example of shyamalan's work. plus it has the major bonus of signourney weaver who can do not wrong. remind me to tell you the dream i had of her as commander of a ufo that landed in sydney. dialogue was as follows:
Me: wow, who woulda guessed that sigourney weaver was an alien?
SW: well you would be surprised how many a-list hollywood celebs ARE aliens.
Me: sally field?
SW: yep, she's an alien.
Me: robert de niro?
SW: he's an alien.
Me: merly streep?
SW: surprisingly enough, meryl is a human. but she's really good as accents, don't you agree?
An ok film. If your interested in Aliens then it's worth a peak.
A good story line but not one of Mel Gibsons better roles.
A philosophical movie with a plot that was hard to believe. A good atmosphere
Unbreakable and Signs are the most boring movies ever made - a full snooze - dont bother
