Being king isn't for everyone - especially if you're a prickly ogre who smells like the shallow end of a swamp. When Shrek married Fiona, the last thing he wanted was to rule Far Far Away. However, when his frogger-in-law suddenly croaks, Shrek is quickly fitted for the crown. Now, unless the reluctant would-be king can find a suitable replacement, he'll be royally screwed for the rest of his days. As if Shrek didn't have enough on his plate, Princess Fiona has another little surprise on the way.

With his head spinning and his belly in knots, Shrek sets off on a quest to find the only other possible heir to the throne, Fiona's long-lost cousin Artie, an underachieving medieval high schooler. While the ogre is away, his old nemesis Prince Charming rears his handsome head and returns to the kingdom of Far Far Away with redemption on his shallow little mind.

I enjoyed this third enstallment of the Shrek series of movies, in part and to a point. I did have some laugh out loud moments, however the use of pop culture music was to the point of nauseating. The part where Snow White was singing and then there was Led Zeppelin? What were the filmmakers thinking? It absolutely grated on my nerves!

Worth watching just for the amazing animation. Excellent plot and punch lines for what is essentially a kids movie... still plenty to keep the adults happy as well.

Unlike other sequels, this movie actually surpasses the earlier films. It is not a matter of better animation, but the lot and character seem less forced, more human. It is as if using cartoon characters let us feel the humanity of the characters, and not be put of by them being human. Shrek 2 seemed like a parody, but 3 is a cinema classic.

Not bad for the 3rd in this series. The third crack is usually the downfall (eg. diehard 3, beverly hills cop 3) but this one had plenty of the wit of the first two. I definately rate this movie.

Lacked a lot of the charisma and ironic wit of the first two, and what plot there was was clearly dreamed up in some writers' sweat shop for churning out sequels they know everyone will see regardless of quality. None the less, the animation is stunningly good and there are (just) enough entertaining bits to make this worth a look.

I have heard that Shrek the Third isn't as good as the first two Shrek movies. One thing I have noticed about Shrek, is that you can not compare either of the three movies against each other. They each have their own story without leaning on previous instalments. It was a good movie to sit with the kids to watch. A funny movie.

What can you say about the sheer brilliance of so much talent coming together... in 1 big crescendo of experience: sight, sound and entertainment! I did read some reviews where viewers were dissapointed. This is not surprising, because previous Shrek movies already set such high standards of excellence. People were going to expect a lot from the sequels. Being in the graphic design/ computer imaging biz myself I guess i doubly appreciate what talent goes into bringing this movie alive. I wouldn't know where to begin, myself! I am in AWE of so much amalgamated brilliance!!
