Great flick but a little melodramatic for me. The chinese style theatre is a lot stronger in this movie than some of the made-for-export fare we usually see. Great fight sequences though, and if you love ninjas this is a four-course-meal.

Although it's a few years old now, it still looks very visually impressive with some great character traits for each of the 5 warriors from the opposing clans. I also found this to have a really impressive surround sound mix, with sword slashes and chains and all sorts of weapons flying about during the fight scenes. Plus I gave the review an extra star because I've visited the theme park last year (think Japanese Movie World) where some of the movie was shot :)

Excellent samurai movie with a Romeo and Juliet twist. Great action of the 'Crouching Tiger' school (but tougher), a great story, plenty of action and a treat for the eyes. Strong finish. One of the best of the genre.
