Excellent movie, albeit with some violence, but well worth watching and looking forward to sequel release on disc.

Great movie, I would recommend this to friends. Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law a great combination of actors; it makes you think and keeps you glued to the screen.

Terrible. Got 45 minutes in and then gave up. Love Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, but they couldn't save this dud.

I've seen some bad movies but this one takes the biscuit. This has NOTHING to do with Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes - they've just used the names. Very poorly acted, poorly written, poorly directed and poorly produced. Absolute rubbish.

Awesome interpretation of Sherlock Holmes with stunning attention to detail and lots of action. Much closer to the style and tone of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books than previous productions. The special effects are so seamless, it was like looking through a window into the late 19th century.

I was quite impressed by this film. The story was intriguing and easy to follow. It looks great in Blu-ray, the effects are great. Downey Jr. and Law are great as Holmes and Watson. The fight scenes are nothing new, but still fun to watch. It does set itself up for a sequel, which will in fact be released late 2011.

Wow...I never realised that the Sherlock Holmes novels were based so much on a Hollywood formula!!! Rather than being just a brilliant detective he is also in to gratuitous violence (using martial arts style of fighting for money). I mean really!!! its Sherlock Holmes...a little far fetched to say the least...and only a loose thread linking it to the original books. Definitely nothing original in this movie. But, it does entertain in the same manner as any other Hollywood blockbuster.

Mmmh. Not sure on this one ... did enjoy it but was nothing like I expected. My main complaint would be the sound - great trouble understanding what was being said, particularly in the first half. To be honest, I was a little disappointed, but having said that - I did love Robert D-J and Jude Law - particularly their bickering ... I was expecting to give a 5 star rating (have been waiting for ages to see it) but can only give it a 3 or 3.5 - however it was very enjoyable all the same.

A new fresh approach to tell Sherlock Holmes story and really good effort at that. The casts are brilliant, the director knows what he's doing...bound to have a sequel.
