I had no expectations of this movie as I generally shy away from British comedy and Zombie flicks have never been my thing, but I loved it in spite of myself. Ridiculously funny.
This movie proves that you can't live without your mates or your woman. Very funny. No wonder it has become a cult classic.
I didn't like this, I found it lame.
Very funny British comedy. Definitely worth watching.
Genius. Pretty much every scene manages to be fully fledged as a zombie film, as a satire of a zombie film, as a romantic comedy, as a drama, and as a silly comedy. Such a mastery of genre and the 'real meaning' of any given joke from this team that I feel like I've watched at least three good films after watching this one.
The direction is actually quite good for a film of this genre and the humour is very well written. It also lightly makes fun of past films from many genres in a way that cinematic aficionados will understand. Well done, Mr Wright.
Disappointing. Amusing set-up but then became just another zombie flick.
Great fun, a triumph over death and bad relationships.
Gory, Funny, Awesome and Zombies!! One of the best movies ever!!
One of the best recent British comedies, this film is basically a parody of all the crappy zombie flicks which have come out over the bast ten years. I absolutely love this film and recommend it highly to all.
I watched this on the basis of recommendations from friends. Frankly I can't see what the fuss was about - I fell asleep just before the end and wasn't engaged enough to watch it the next day. Simon Pegg has done a lot better than this.
Horribly Stupid - did not finish watching this movie as it was too stupid
Very unique take on zombie movies, without being a spoof of the genre. It's very funny, with occasional moments of poignancy - these guys did a good job walking the line between horror and comedy.
Special Features include behind-the-scenes featurettes, photo galleries, plot hole explanations and trailers.
This is just awesome, the zombies meets spaced this is a film for everyone. Simon Pegg is just awesome this whole movie is just awesome. i wish there were more comedy's like this. everything is brilliant about this film.
This is a great zombie movie. Armed with a cricket bat and a shovel Shaun tries to survive the zombies. Very funny, especially if you have seen some of the Romero movies,; seems set in the same world as Day of the dead, but funny. Quite british.
Hilariously funny zombie spoof
Good bloke flick, and a fun if gory romp
A comedy of dead proportions a classic zombie up there with George's walkers. lf you liked them in "hot Fuzz" you will enjoy their humor. lt's got that "night of the living dead" style very funny every scene. A truck load of extra bits all worth a laugh. "hello hello, what's the plan?"
I think I can see why this is a cult movie but it lack the cleverness to do it for me.
A cautionary tale on the value of life, beware the modern day comforts and routines that threaten it. Nothing against Pegg who is a fine comic performer, but it?s a pity The Big Train group didn?t collaborate on a few movies before going onto separate projects. When the Python crew went their own way we got Brazil, A Fish Called Wanda, and um Eric The Viking. All arguably good while falling short of what the Python collective can achieve. Lost a star for not being as funny as it could have been, still an enjoyable and important movie.
Entertaining zombie flick set in London. Watch and enjoy.
Quirky, funny gothic horror genre film.
Funniest movie.... in a dead? .. kind of way. Great fun!!!
I loved this movie, very ordinary guy becomes an extraordinary hero. Make sure you see Dawn of the Dead as well (original and remake), to see where it's inspiration came from.
It feels bad to be laughing when people get chopped up! Good fun.
Very british take on the zombie horror genre...great characters, funny and gory...what more could you want of a rom-zom-com!
not a patch on their later effort, hot fuzz (which is hilarious)
Good humour in a bleak, beak world. Mybe I want a Zombie friend to always play Playstation against.
From the creators of Spaced, Shaun Of The Dead is a genre bashing hilarious comedy that is incredibly entertaining the whole way through. It is a fresh faced comedy that given a go and not taken seriously will deliver the goods.
Great movie- pretty gory- but a good laugh!
This movie is funny, It's not over the top gorewise which is good. If you are a fan of George Romero then you will love this. Also does subtle digs at other Zombie flicks eg. One of the characters in it is Ash who is the hero in Evil Dead series. I mich prefer the "english" humour in this than the "American" human of evil dead.
For people who like weird movies
I hate zombie films. As a rule, I do not watch horror films... but Shaun of the dead was so funny I laughed all the way through.
one of the funniest movies i have ever seen, great mix of comedy and gore
I usually see genre films the way I do Literature - I'm aware of the main shifts and who the geniuses are, but that doesn't mean I've read their books.
So I've never seen a zombie film before, but this one I love.
There's a few plot holes, and to be fair they DO point them out in the extras, but it's a very enjoyable film. I did laugh out loud. And the rom part isn't sickening.
Shaun of the Dead is what happens when middle class manners come up against a plague of zombies.
If you love horror, and you love comedy, then this movie gives you the perfect mix of both! This is a NOT TO BE MISSED movie, and is now on my WISH list as well!
Very funny, with a great cast.
Funny, very British in comedic standards
Mixed bag, very funny in places and very scary in places, just not sure if it should have been more one way or the other, still worth a watch.
The best film ever! pretty good anyway. features starring roles and comes from the cast of black books, little britain and the office. the only schlock film I've seen this decade that has a really good plot too.
Engaging satire of both British pub culture and zombie movies, with a believable romantic theme running through the centre. Gory in parts, but purely gratuitous as a horror movie should be.
This is such a funny, enjoyable, contemporary
horror film with references to too many films that its a feast to the film buff (not a zombie). British comedy as Holloywood can never emulate.
i thought it was really good. funny & discusting at the same time!
Amusing although tends to drag in the second half.
You have to enjoy English humour to enjoy this movie. Clever in parts
Could only stand 5 minutes of this trashy movie. No!
I'm not normally up for zombie movies but this one is not to be missed. It is funny in that British slacker kind of way and the ending is just brilliant.
It's funny, but not funny enough for me.
The first Rom-Zom-Coms I've seen and I think I'll be seeing more! The characters were great and the plot was so thin you would think that it would be dead in the water, but the British juat have a knack for being so much funnier than Hollywood with subtlety rather than over the top jokes that you see coming a mile away. I admit I picked a lot of what was going to happen, but thats because I watch too many movies! I think the movie had a warm human touch that transended it's outrageous gore and made it a family movie, if you see no shame in letting your children have nightmares for a couple of weeks that is! All up a top movie full of fun and gore, two things high on Rom-Zom-Com checklist!
A lot of fun, sometimes a bit much though...
Could have told the story in 15 min, didn't enjoy it
This movie is a classic. It has those background comedic touches that make you want to see it again. I don't think I could ever take a zombie movie seriously again.
One Great Film. Funny, entertaining and above all very smart. I am a huge horror fan and this film does its best at poking fun at zombies. I hope they make another one they could call it "Dead By Shaun", don't worry if you don't get it, you have to be a fan of the Evil Dead films :)
A movie about attack of the zombies. Very funny in parts. I spent a lot of the movie trying to work out if they were taking the piss, but I think it was just a reasonable attempt at a horror/comedy.
I loved this movie!! Growing up watching Return of the Living Dead, this movie was one of the best. You cannot go past the british humour.
Superb - how the English would deal with a zombie attack. Very funny, very accurate.
Absolute cracker of a film even if you haven't ever lived in the UK, funny to the point but not past it just being completely ridiculous, well at times :)
I'm not into Zombie films, but this was heaps of fun.
This movie was great. Very funny!!
Quite amusing - in a macabre way...
Evil Dead meets The Office - I loved this movie. Turn your brain off and have fun
