A very good movies showing the intrigues of South East Asia prior to Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbour etc ... the acting was excellent and well recommended for viewing...
OK movie. Great set of actors but the story lacked depth.
An American spy in Shanghai suspects the Japanese are up to something big after his colleague is murdered. Pretty lacklustre affair which lacks the snappy dialogue of those classic forties movies set in the East.
What a disappointment - my favourite actors and the worst movie and script I have seen in years. Very amateurish, disjointed and corny.
I have given it one star as gthere is nothing lower.
Another poor playable report requesting replacement that dropped off the radar.
didn't fall asleep but nothing to write home about
Excellent movie. Well acted and historically quite accurate.
Couldn't really get into it, it all seemed too contrived. Turned it off after 20 minutes.
after seeing preview i was looking foreward to seeing this title, and it did not 'deceive'. A good watch, interesting story, (both historical & fictional; dramatised). Not boring so well worth the watch: entertaining
Damn I love watching Li Gong. She was sublime in Miami Vice (but was that difficult against Collin Farrels mo and mullet?) and in this she is so tasty. John Cusack has ambled along for a while (imo) but here he is less sub-par then usual, though he phones in the narrative at times. (So yeah he is good here). Chow Yun Fat was eponymous in Crouching Tiger and by Type its probably his strength. Here in a more subdued role he doesnt shine so much. The writing is solid though lets down the story at time. But overall yeah, I did really enjoy this movie - much more than I expected. (Gong Li ty)
Great cast, really good watch
