John Clark (Richard Gere) is a workaholic who feels trapped in a dull, mind-numbing existence. But one night, his whole life changes when the sight of a beautiful dance instructor (Jennifer Lopez) inspires him to break out of his mould and sign up for ballroom dancing lessons. Now, hell have to step lightly and do some fancy footwork if he expects to keep his exciting new passion a secret from his family and friends. Also starring Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon Shall we Dance? is a genuine feel-good audience pleaser!

I had the privilege of seeing the original Japanese version back when it was released. Absolutely loved it then. Recently saw it again and loved it once more. I was willing to give this English version a try and did. Sadly, I'm speechless! The quiet longing, grace and style of the original has not been captured in this 2004 remake at all. The changes made to this version does nothing to enhance an already mediocre and weak remake. It's not that the cast don't try; they try too much that at times it really seems like a great effort on their part ,and requires a lot of effort to watch. The original is an effortless joy filled with one exquisite scene after another. Go see the original - to see how it's really done.

This film, it's horrible plot and complete lack of logic, not only make me feel regretful for having rented it, but I also fear that it may just be stuck in my plasma and sperm count, thus dooming my grandchildren to a lifetime of wondering why people let Jennifer Lopez make films. Go rent American Gigolo instead.

What a beautiful movie .. I was pleasantly surprised by JLo's performance in this movie and the dancing was superb !! What a pity that ballroom dancing isn't as popular as it once was.

If you are of an age where you recognise the romance of classic ball room dancing then you will enjoy this.
Richard Gere is great, Jennifer Lopez is reasonable, but the dancing and the music are worth it all.

What a gorgeous movie, even if it is just to watch Richard Gere come up the escalator with a single rose - WOW!!!!!! He is so gorgeous......A really nice movie, clean, funny, makes me want to start take dancing lessons. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, both on the big screen and the little one!! High Recommended.

Mundane life is usually the norm with the long hours of work commitments. This movie gives new light to realize that not much is needed to brighten things up in ones life ' that's if you have the energy'!! Very light hearted, and pleasant viewing. I'm sure dance studio numbers went up when this movie came out :)

The story is predictable, and the dancing not that great. As he ages Richard Gere looks more and more like a ferret, and Jennifer Lopez has the acting talent of a store dummy, but to my surprise I found this film entertaining.

Although I am not a dancer, I did enjoy this movie. Athough my daughter-in-law predicted that after wathching the movie, I would be inspired to go to dancing class, I think that she might be wrong this time.
