Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman star in this supernatural action adventure about a heroic Crusader and his closest friend who return home after decades of fierce fighting, only to find their world destroyed by the Plague. The church elders, convinced that a girl accused of being a witch is responsible for the devastation, command the two to transport the strange girl to a remote monastery where monks will perform an ancient ritual to rid the land of her curse. They embark on a harrowing, action-filled journey that will test their strength and courage as they discover the girl's dark secret and find themselves battling a terrifyingly powerful force that will determine the fate of the world.

Nicholas Cage and Ron Perlman - good actors and I expected a good movie here...
The action scenes were good, but the story line pretty poor, and a very short movie..
The CFX was quite good, the fighting scenes were believable...the scenery/sets and the hypocrisy of church was all realistic...
enjoyable movie for a rainy afternoon, but put your mind at zero

We were very disappointed with this movie. Bad acting from all parties and quite predictable. Love Nicholas Cage normally but hated his performance in this move. Found the whole movie rather pointless and quite frankly a waste of my time. We should have turned it off after the first 10 minutes, but we lived in the hoped that it would get better. It didn't.

Quite enjoyed this medievil thriller. Good to see Nic Cage in something like this for a change! The copy of the DVD I got stopped a couple of times, so had to fast forward a bit, so missed all the bit in the woods. Downside of this, to me, is that so much of it was in the dark & you couldn't see what was happening a lot of the time. Other then that, I quite enjoyed it.

Surprisingly dumb fun, which verges very much on fantasy sword and sandal feel. Not what I was expecting at all, but enjoyable nonetheless. The kind of movie you can throw on at home and talk through, yet still enjoy. Don't forget to microwave some popcorn.

I liked the general set up of this movie, and a few scenes had a scary and unsettling tone. Nic Cage and Ron Perlman were good. A decent medieval thriller.

I really like Nicholas Cage and Ron Perlman - both enduringly entertaining.
There was just something missing from this movie that reduced it from quite good to, eh it's ok. The end was smalzy and corny.

The witty remarks between Nick Cage and Ron Pearlman saved this movie from being a complete flop. I love Cage movies but this one had me nodding off. The first 10 minutes are good, the last 10 minutes are good, everything in between is boring. With this subject matter and the special effects, this movie could have been a winner.....but it's not.

I like medievil time movies, thoroughly enjoyed this movie, good amount of action and suspense, good story line. I would have liked there to be more evilness and witchery. Definitely worth watching.

I love Nicolas Cage and have enjoyed almost every movie he has been in, this one is no exception.
Its graphic and well written, if you like horror you will love this.

Really disappointing, I expected much more from a Nicholas cage movie! The first half hour is mainly the fighting in The Crusades and the church 'Smitting Poor Sinners Down in Vengance'. . . . . ! The 'suspected' witch looks more like a virgin sacrifice for the most part. the final scenes with 'the devil' are sort of action packed but it is really just a dark, plague filled, middle ages story with many historical inaccuracies throughout. It did just fill in a few hours however.

WOW! Awesome movie. A lot more than I expected.
A far deeper and more compelling story than you might expect, and some interesting character interactions make this film a very enjoyable experience.
Highly recommended, especially if you have an inclination to the fantasy and medieval genres.

Spoiler alert -> There are no witches,not one. The beginning is great! From there it's all downhill. It's boring with cardboard performances from Nicholas Cage and Hellboy.
Keep it from your queue, you won't miss anything.

This was an excellent movie. I liked the fact that everyone thought she was a commonly accused witch. I loved how the chose an innocent looking girlish type of Witch. I also loved how the movie was portrayed, but the thing that I loved out of all of it, was when they worked out they were dealing with something much more than just a witch. 5 Thumbs up, a must have for your DVD Horror collection, or even just to watch.

Pretty standard heroes quest movie that has nothing to really say about anything. Derivative and predictable for the most part, it's a horror movie that might serve to distract the less discerning for a short while.

A solid performance by Nicholas Cage in this movie about Knights of the Crusade, witches, Church conspiracy, the plague, black magic and the choices between right and wrong in an ever twisting tale.
The story is interesting and the movie keeps you intrigued until the very end.

i initially rated this title with 3 stars (worth watching) until the last 20 odd minutes which seemed to 'come alive' afair bit more than beforehand. Hence i gave it 4 stars for having an 'interesting ending'
