Detective Somerset (Morgan Freeman) is only a week away from retiring from his job at a New York City precinct. Both detectives soon find themselves on the trail of a vicious serial killer that chooses his victims according to the seven deadly sins. Not normally into cop shows but this was really quite good. I really don't like unnecessary violence and surprisingly there wasn't any, the bits of ugly was (to me) acceptable and part of the story. I enjoyed this movie; absorbing, entertaining with a good ending.

Dark, disturbing and completely terrifying. Se7en does a wonderful job at depicting a world that's absolutely gone down the gutter and the mystery keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing until the amazing climax. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt are excellent together. One of the best thrillers of all time for sure. A must see film.

This is a really good movie. Kept me captivated throughout. I didn't expect what happened at the end. For an older movie this is worth watching.

Shades of HG Wells. The director sold his birthright for a pot of message. Could have been so much better with a different ending.

Gory and dark, this film explores the relationship between two police officers (an old hand and rookie) and their pursuit of a dangerous, sadistic, homicidal psychopath who is intent on punishing his victims according to the seven deadly sins of Christian mythology. Akin to a Hannibal Lecter, in magnitude, to a Hannibal Lecter film; it sounds gory but this film is very well performed and directed with the lead actors being Brad Pitt (he's actually quite good in this film), Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey. Well directed and a proper thriller/horror film, I'd recommend it to anyone who likes suspense with realisitc (non-sensational) horror elements.

There are gruesome scenes and the plot is far fetched. The seven deadly sins each lead to death. Don't be too proud if you guess the end. This is pure whodunit entertainment and you won't find yourself hoping it will end soon.

I don't see why this got so many good reviews! For the most part, this movie was excruciating slow. I enjoyed the concept, but really, the pacing let it down. Watchable, but I would be using the "Next" button. 6/10

Well acted, good script, apparently the scenery later on is good too. But the plot/concept is really really gory! I could only watch half...my partner flicked through the rest....but once I realised the line up of mutilated bodies and close up shots with detail.....I bailed out.

Unforgettable movie - the end had me nearly screaming at the screen (first time i watched it). Morgan Freeman's laid back nature and narrative is a classic foil for Brad Pitt's intensity and eagerness to work on this new case in a new city. 5 star from me. The murders are all unforgettable portrayals of the 7 deadly sins - but what is the 7th sin, Watch and you will find out ;-)

An wise old detective about to retire takes on a, what turns out to be a very starnge and bloody case. He is pared with a nother detective, young and ambitious. They can't work together very well. They ensuing drama between the two detectives and the murders they invetsigate is exiting drama.

Excellent stuff. Pitt does well playing the new kid on the block, constantly shown up by the old hand, but with persistency starts to get the hang of things. Good plot, and the baddie is very imaginative...a great example of the serial killer genre.

really stretches your beliefs as to what depravity a physco will descend to. loaded with stars but I find them all just going through the motions. If you like gore and Hollywood cop chasing depraved killer who must leave clues everywhere then you will like it. I found it unconvincing the violence gratuitous and just ho hum. The director must have some sway in getting so many good actors to take part in a pretty ordinary movie.

Excellent atmosphere and oozes Lynch style. Sometimes plodding pace is made up for by brilliant twists. Perhaps too gritty for some. (Most?)

Engrossing tale of an old cop and a new cop (again) chasing after a serial killer who is keen to punish the Seven Deadly Sins. Morgan Freeman at his best. A surprise ending!

Rather tiresome example of the serial kiler genre. Morgan Freemen wasted trying to make the most of a meandering script punctuated by worryingly imaginative but obscene violence, thankfully only shown in its aftermath. Brad Pitt truly tragic...why did this man choose to become an actor? His hopelessness contrasts cruelly with the craft of Freeman and Kevin Spacey. In short, you'd be better off watching the Silence of the Lambs again.

This movie has one of the best opening titles I've ever seen and it really shows the attention to detail that this production has. Very creepy (and not for those with weak stomachs) but a fascinating study of human weakness.
