Planet Sirius 6B is a world ravaged by war and long forgotten by those who settled it. For Commander Joseph A. Hendricksson (Peter Weller), assigned to protect the Earth Alliance outpost, it's worse than hell...it's home. The high-tech weapons used by his army to fight their enemy are known as Screamers - mechanical devices that travel underground and emit an ear-piercing shriek when they kill their programmed target. But something is wrong, the Screamers have 'evolved' and turned on their makers. Now, with the ability to take on human form, the only way to tell man from machine, is by the sound of their scream...and the only chance of escape, is to get back to Earth.

A well made Sci fi with great acting and the Screamers are impressive with the CGI but it gets a tad silly with the plot twists near the end going agasint its own logic but a worthy view nonetheless.

The title of this film always led me to believe it was some sort of cheesy 1980's flick which is why I never paid it any attention. Having then seen part of it on pay-TV I decided to rent it for a complete viewing. I wasn't disappointed. While it's not the best Sci-Fi flick you'll ever see, it's certainly not the worst. If you go in with that understanding and just want to chill-out for 100 minutes with something that won't stretch your brain too far, then you'll get some simple entertainment out of this film.
