Disc fault. Could not watch past the first 15-20 mins. Tried two different players.
I've sent it back long 10/12/12 but still in the disc returning list... ?????
The last 20 minutes not withstanding, this is without a doubt, Spielberg's masterpiece. Lest we forget.
In Poland during World War II, Oskar Schindler gradually becomes concerned for his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution by the Nazis. A rollercoaster ride of emotions in this magnificent film by Spielberg. A masterpiece
One of the best films ever made.
This is a true classic that you must watch. I am from The Netherlands and my family actually lived through the war and saw many Jews deported who never came home. My grandfather was a local leader in the Resistance Movement and he helped some escape or hide. They are just some of the very few fortunate ones who survived. It sure stirs a lot of personal feelings to watch this movie which is very realistic and brilliantly made. It is a good reminder of what evil deeds humans are capable of doing to others, given the right circumstances.
Let us never forget nor deny that this happened!
Schlinder's list is a wonderful MUST SEE movie - definately a tear jerker tho. Keep in mind that you must also hire Disc 2 as it includes the 2nd half of the movie, not just bonus features, d'oh!! :-)
Love this movie (the two part set). Very moving, very long but very interesting to watch. One of the best movies I've ever seen
Definitely a must see by all. One of the classics in my opinion - very depressing at times and powerful. Fantastic movie.
every body should watch this movie so it cannot happen again.......
Steven Spielberg's Opus Magnum, this is an incredibly moving film about the destruction of the Jewish population, as a part of the Endlosung and Holocaust. Magnificent acting on the part of Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson and Ben Kinglsey makes this film not only believeable but a testament to the capacity of first class films to completely capture their audience. A testament to the life of the flawed but extraordinary Oskar Schindler, this is the crowning achievement of Spielberg's career and as he said "it was a film that had to be made."
Very powerful movie! Makes you appreciate what horrific ordeals the Jews went through during WWII.
Is a must watch, sad movie but worth watching.
My wife is from Germany and we went there last year. While we were there we did a lot of research on the war and the way the Jews were treated. From what we saw, this was a faithful telling of how things really went down and how people were treated. Thank God for people like Schindler. The only warning however, we didn't realise this movie is shot entirely in Black and White. It works, but took us by surprise.
What a great movie, can't believe I've not seen it before. Excellent in black and white, great story line and fantastic acting by all in the movie. Very moving, gave me goosebumps and my hair stood up on my arms with the strong emotions this movie evoked. It's def a must see.
Wow, what can you say. An absolutely moving movie. Great cast , great acting, just a fantastic movie. Can't believe it took me so long to watch.
Terrifying movie which is so moving. Not sure what his motives were to start with, but he did save the lives of 1100 persons. This movie held us spellbound.
Love it!!! Excellent movie.
Schindler's List is without question my favourite movie due mainly to the way it impacts me as a human being. It's beautifully filmed almost entirely in black and white and tells a true story of someone who affected the lives of thousands. Each time I see it I cry but it gives me hope that, even through the worst suffering, humans have the capacity for great dignity, love, and compassion.
A most wonderful film, all the praise it's recieved over the years are so well deserved.
Fantastic film (although depressing subject matter)-everyone involved deserved their Oscars immensely... all the better for having the gritty reality of black & white. Tissues are a must for watching.
Very much worth watching!!!!!
To think how much one man can do for generation of people - even if he starts out with less than noble intentions.
Also makes you really question the human race and the value of money
This movie deserves nothing less than 5 stars. It really opened my eyes to the horror of the time and deeply disturbed me that people can do that sort of thing to other people. However the saviour figure in Schindler himself is a beautiful representation of the human spirit of compassion. The performances themselves were so brilliant at times I wondered whether I was watching real footage. The actors were well cast (although I now have a slight hatred for Ralph Fiennes - he played his role really well). My favourite part was the funeral procession at the end. This movie is definitely worth all the awards it won, you have to see it at least once in your life.
Although this was a harrowing story of man's cruellllty to his fellow men it was also inspiring for the dedication of one man to do good.
Very well done. Is hard to watch when you see what the Jews went through & the number slaughtered! However was encouraging to see that throughout it all there was one who cared & to see the benefits that have come from that.
I thought it would be too sad but it was an excellent movie
Brilliant film, a must see
The most powerful, moving film ever made. Disturbingly evocative and chillingly confronting. Schindler's List is a tribute to the triumph of the human spirit through the most difficult circumstances. A must watch.
Absolutely brilliant movie. Film-making at its very best. Spielberg should be very proud of this.
Excellent movie with informative additional material. Everyone should watch.
Bit more sexual than the original and I missed seeing the little girl in the red jacket, given it was a black and white movie.
a factual, at times graphic and violent account of the atrocities that occurred in war but also the humanity of one man's crusade to save as many as he could.
Great story- enjoyed it more after visiting Krakow in Poland. How extemely sad -and all this happened only 60 years ago. Quite unbelievable really.
Brilliant portrayal of a very human story.
An inspiring film full of brilliant performances, particularly by the underrated Ben Kingsley!
even the length of the movie doesn't distract. It is very grasping viewing
A great movie...ruined by Spielberg backing a cement truck loaded with 20 minutes of schmaltz into the final act.
Chilling, knowing that it actually happened. A great movie that tells its story very well.
It was too graphic for me.
Amazing. B&W annoyed me but I looked past that. I cried and that means alot for me.
In my view it contains far too much gratuitous violence in the many close up scene of arbritrary shooting of innocent people. While the truth has to be told, it could have been told less graphically. I did not watch all of it.
Sad but so true, one of the best pictures to come out of Germany relating to Germanies treatment of the Jews.
Very moving heart wrenching movie.i would rate it not to be missed but it may upset some people
Very moving heart wrenching movie.
It was interesting to watch the transformation of a man who set out to make money from war become a man who cared about others enough to take risks in order to save them. The legacy of his compassion was shown in the number of descendents of the original "Schindler's List".
Well told without too much shocking detail. I really enjoyed this movie.
Powerful and horrifying, yet ultimately moving and uplifting, this is a classic movie that will stand the test of time for years to come. The casting and acting is superb, showing the characters in all their complexity - perhaps particularly that of Goeth. The photography is brilliant, its sequencing and timing a study in great film making.
Stephen Spielbergs movie about Oscar Schindlers life, a compelling story about the atrocities that we as humans can inflict on each other and the courage of one man to defy the odds.
Athough this movie has been out for many years it still is a classic motion picture. Well worth the time to watch and also a great flick for your home collection .
I had read Thomas Keneally's original novel and had put off seeing the film because of my reluctance to be confronted by the horror of it all... in retrospect a mistake, as there is so much more to this than a graphic representation of what the Holocaust must have been like to those who experienced it. This movie explores a range of fundemental themes in telling its story. Liam Neeson brings the man who was Oskar Schindler to life, but it is Fiennes' chilling portrayal of the monster Amon Goethe as a socially quite likable fellow who never understood that what he was doing was wrong which is most haunting. Overall, one of the best movies of modern era and a must see.
Perhaps the most 'moving' movie ever made.
A memorable story of humanity
Powerful and emotive - ultimately a little too long.
Compelling viewing even if subject is unpleasant - a real history lesson
Harrowing, but definitely a must see.
Fantastic movie albeit disturbing as well. One of Spielbergs finest.
One of Spielberg's many great movies. Definitely in my top 10 list.
A chilling reminder of the the attempt to wipeout a large group of people purely based on their religious preference, etc. The director of the movie has sucessfully get the message across of the Holocaust, the genocide of European Jews and others by the Nazis during World War II and in particular there is good among the evil.
This is a great movie. It is disturbing, in that it actually happened. The attention to detail is excellent, as are the special effects.
