Director: Robert Mulligan
Actors: Alan Alda, Ellen Burstyn, Ivan Bonar

Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn glow on screen as eternal lovers who are also married to other people. A fateful meeting at a California Inn leads the seemingly mismatched pair into a 26 year long affair in which they meet for only one weekend every year. Altered by the global events of the 50s, 60s and 70s skilfully displayed with film stills from the time and by their personal challenges, the couple grow and change as the years toll by but never lose the awe that they have found their true soul mates.

I didn't expect this movie to be any more than what it was. I like Adam Alda in MASH and this was more of a serious side to him. A simple movie.

Still one of my favourite all time movies, Ellen Burstyn and Alan Alda have great chemistry and some very funny and heartbreaking scenes. Recommend this film.

I just love this movie. The ultimate chick flick! Alan Alda is always good value and the theme song with Johnny Mathis sets the perfect mood.

A little dated (well, 30 years actually) but a good storyline. Comedy with a hint of sadness. I enjoyed it.
