The one star reviews are on the money here; this is film represents a tragic waste of a good cast. Just imagine what might have happened; had it chosen to lampoon a religion other than New Age Christianity.......

I can't understand all of the poor reviews. While not great movie, there were plenty of funny bits (if you have ever experienced life in the Bible belt or have known a few Greatful Dead heads, you'll appreciate the parody even more). Fine performances by all, and agree with a previous reviewer who compared it to a Coen brothers dark comedy.

So good it could have been a Coen Brothers movie! (it's not). This movie is sending up the born again Christians - so probably not for anyone who is deeply religious. For everyone else, it is hilarious. Pierce Bronson perfectly cast as the almighty Pastor. Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Connelly also well cast. If you liked the humour of say, 'The Big Lebowski' (which is definitely not religious), you should enjoy this movie. Well worth watching. Recommended.

This was an interesting film. It was a very clever movie. A bit humour came through in parts, probably when it was needed.

I thought this was a really clever movie. I really enjoyed it. It was subtle, but not. Everyone played a really good part.

Hilarious! Perfect for Christians who are happy to laugh at themselves. If you are easily offended, it's not for you. If you are jaded by the Church then you probably will miss a lot of the humour.

Weird and awful! Finished the movie with a sense of ickyness and 'what was the point of that?' running through my head. I guess it was trying to be a clever slant on religion and how even the most 'reverent' doubt themselves. Perhaps highlighting that we are all human and therefore prone to making mistakes. Although it was supposed to be a comedy, I didn't laugh out loud once. The only good thing about the film was how many amazing actors appeared. Why they did it, I'll never know!! A big disappointment overall.

I suppose you could call this a bit of a Dark Comedy, although it is probably more Drama than Comedy. A mildly interesting story involving religion and how it is used a a source of power by the unscrupulous. Not bad, but I wouldn't watch it twice.
