Eucalyptus trees in New England......come on. This somes up how bad this picture was. It was shot in Victoria, Australia with a mostly Aussie cast putting on terrible American accents. The film was boring, bland and did no justice to the book.
Really disappointed in this remake, as a huge fan of the book I was full of high hopes.. It was such a bland movie, especially considering the cast.. Think this is several hours of my time that I'll never get back..
good remake,i dont like rob lowe and his narrating.its spoils it.
it was long and not enough vampires for a classic horror.
Quite an enjoyable flick. Kept me interested and entertained enough so that I didn't even realise that it went for so long. Star studded cast and plenty of Aussies to check out. Definitely worth a look.
Far too long and drawn out. It's really a 90 minute movie dragged out to nearly 3 hours. Lots of character development and subplots that ultimately just serve as padding and don't move the story forward in any meaningful way. Even when the story hits its strides and gets down to vampire business, it's riddled with too many clichés and tepid shocks you'll see coming from a mile away and ultimately becomes dull. Even though it's campy by today's standards, you're better off checking out the 1979 Tobe Hooper version. Or better yet, read the book.
Sadly, very disappointing. It is very well made, but really quite boring. It's not scary or particularly atmospheric. It picks up a bit in the last hour, but not enough to salvage it. I give it two stars for its handsome production value; the Aussie locales and cast are, for the most part, well utilized. The 1979 TV mini-series, or even its truncated version screened in cinemas down under, is much more fun and frightening.
Really enjoyable. Not the usual shockers that are S.King adaptions. Great directing, good acting and a modern spin.
An above average telling of the Stephen King story. Made in Australia, there are lots of Aussies in this film set in a small American town of Jerusalem's Lot. Donald Sutherland is brilliant. The fact it was made in Australia is not a distraction, unlike some other films made here like Ghost Rider. The Aussies hold their own in some major roles.
Very good Stephen King novel to movie adaption.
The addition of many Aussie actors probably helped the rating but it was still very good.
I dont normally like Vampire plots but this was well done.
Brilliant book. Average Movie. Those that haven't read the book may like it.
Way too long. Story was all over the place.
Despite this being a Stephen King movie, it was really
un-interesting with a long drawn out storyline, not much suspense at all and in my opinion a waste of time.
The original movie was much better altho I did like the cast of mainly Australian actors.
Not bad version. I would recommend viewers to also watch the original series with David Soul. Barlow is a lot more human than the original or the book.
good movie worth watching
Steven King Classic. Cannot compare it to the first version as I saw it so long ago that I cannot remember.
Acting a little dry but a good time killer none the less.
One redeeming factor-it's based on a Steven King novel and the story line is good, but I've seen better horror movies!!
I sometimes find Steven King hard to follow but this movie was an excellent horror flick. Rob Lowe and creepy Donald Sutherland were cast well.
The original movie is much better.
OK adaption of the Stephen King novel. Rob Lowe & co. were pretty good. A good blend of suspense and horror. No extra features.
