Her husband (John Cassavetes), an ambitious but unsuccessful actor, makes a pact with the devil that promises to send his career skyward. It must be over 30 years since I first saw this film, and I still remembered so many details! Farrow is so good. I watched it with my 22YO daughter - she was blown away. She is always sneering because I don't like her 'scarey' movies and can't believe I would be able to love this one! Reckon I was the cause of her sleepless night this time!

A terrific movie for the 60's. You could feel the pain and sadness the main character (Mia Farrow) was going thru and just felt the hopelessness. Great story line that is based on human emotion rather than special effects like most of the recent thrillers do.

High expectations but after the first 30/40 minutes this dragged a lot. Only for Polanski addicts

Left alot to be desired. Bogs down in the beginning, in the middle.. and even the end. Not saying this is a bad film, but "The best horror movie ever" is surely not this..

I had to watch this film for school in the 80s, and the scene where Rosemary poisoned with the chocolate moose made me feel sick. The scene this time around, didn't make me feel any better. It was a bazaar film, and the music was a bit of a worry. I liked the film, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to recommend it to anyone.

A great horror/suspense movie. While the film looks a little dated due to the hairstyles and clothes of the actors, the themes are very modern with its emphasis on urban alienation. One of Polanski's strengths is how he draws unease and terror from ordinary, everyday situations and makes you unable to trust even those closest to you. The story tells how Rosemary and her husband Guy, move into a new apartment building. Rosemary wants to have a baby, Guy, a struggling actor, wants desparately to be successful in his career. During the course of the film both their wishes will be fulfilled. Mia Farrow's innocent and youthful looks and sweet nature are perfect for her role as Rosemary, you feel terribly afraid for her as the sense of dread mounts. The film also confirms everything you always supected about actors. Not just a great horror film but a great film.

An intelligent horror. The terror comes from questions about what is happening to you, who can you trust, and all that when you're the most vulnerable, rather than from rubber monsters, fake blood and loud noises.

This movie is a bit dated these days and the acting is abysmal to say the least. Mia Farrow was never an actress, relying on her elfin looks and relationships with famous men to carry her through. I thought the stand out performance was Ruth Gordon as the busy body neighbour. A great story though, as were most of Ira Levins books.

Still a chiller. Mia Farrow, who proved to be an actress of limited range, is perfectly cast here. John Cassavetes is sneeringly ruthless as her husband and Ruth Gordon shows just how frighteningly banal evil can be. One of Polanski's best.

Liked it but think it's more a thiller than a horror movie. Spooky nosy neighbour was really brilliant, she made my skin crawl.
