Actors: Jesse Eisenberg, Leslie Mann, Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway, Jemaine Clement

Set in the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil, the comedy-adventure centres on Blu, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. When Blu discovers there's another - and that she's a she - he leaves the comforts of his cage in small town Minnesota and heads to Rio. But it's far from love at first sight between the domesticated and flight-challenged Blu and the fiercely independent high-flying female Jewel. Unexpectedly thrown together, they embark on an adventure of a lifetime where they learn about friendship, love, courage and being open to life's many wonders.

Entertaining, but rather noisy, simplistic approach to the important issue of smuggling rare & near extinction bird species from less developed countries to the highly "developed" ones. The animation quality leaves a lot to be desired.

The kids liked it more than I did. It is very formulaic love story with cliched bad guys and predictable twists. It does not stand out in any way from other animated feature films with talking animals.

Kids liked it but didn't continually ask for it once I returned it. The characters were a bit weak, except for Nigel. One that, overall, I am glad didn't pay truck loads of $ to take the kids to see at the cinema

The animation is amazing and the views of Rio are stunning, even if they are animated. Well researched film, at least for location. Fun characters and the highlight is the carnival scene. A winner for kids and adults alike.

OK animated feature. Can't say I am a fan of the self deprecating humor protrayed by the lead. Colourful enough for the height challenged among us.

Great family movie, beautifully compiled and the story was great with a sad, but happy ending which is good for the younger family members...Colours are bright and eye-catching great for the littlies to capture their attention, well worth watching as a family.

Rio was a lot better than I expected. My 4 and 6 year old kids enjoyed it and I thought the story was fairly easy for them to understand (though there were a lot of references only adults would comprehend). The baddies weren't as menacing as some in other G rated movies, which was a relief. The animation was wonderful - I actually wished I'd taken them to the cinema to see it as I'd have liked to have seen it in 3D. Still, it was very impressive on DVD nonetheless.

Not a bad movie, I think a PG rating would be better. Some scenes could be a bit scarey for younger children

From the creators of the Ice Age films, this doesn't quite live up to the reputation. It's fun and entertaining, but few laugh out loud moments. Kids will love it!
