Director: Hideo Nakata
Actors: Matsushima Nanako, Nakatani Miki, Sanada Hiroyuki, Sato Hitomi

Within a week of watching a mysterious videotape, a group of teenagers are dead. The bodies are found gruesomely contorted, their eyes frozen as if they had seen something more terrifying than any physical threat. The video becomes an urban myth. Insidiously, an unseen force is pointing its deadly finger at those poor souls unable to resist their curiosity. One of those people is the cynical journalist Reiko, who soon finds herself unwillingly drawn into a spiralling nightmare of fear from an unseen, omnipresent threat.

The most unsettling film since The Exorcist, with an unnatural presence that touches every nerve in your body, Ring is a beast of an entirely different order. Critically acclaimed as one of the most frightening horror films in years, Ring delivers a tense spine-chilling atmosphere, filled with an overwhelming sense of dread and a potent presence of unworldly evil. Dark and sinister and genuinely horrifying, this is a film you will never forget.

Good Movie. Nice Storyline. But not much scary. And I Think, lots of scenes were cut out from the movie.

I really wish people would stop comparing asian horrors with un-original American knock off versions. This version of The Ring was awesome, and could only be presented with that eerie heart grabbing creepiness that only asian films seem to pull off. This version of The Ring lets you know more of the story of how it all became, it answers more questions making it more scary through out and much better viewing than the American version... By the way, I watcthed the American version first, and as soon as i saw this version I vowed never to watch a soulless knock off again.

This is one movie that you don't want to stop watching until the very end. Keeps you wondering how it is all going to end. An excellent movie.

An obscure and not fully fleshed out plot does little to hamper one's enjoyment of one of the finest pieces of Japanese horror to make it to our shores. This is one of those few movies where the final moments of the film inform your enjoyment of what had gone before. Visually arresting and competantly directed it is little wonder this story of a death dealing video has become such a mainstay of Japanese horror.

A classic horror movie. As good as a western made flick, but only the connoisseurs of Kabuki theatre could fully enjoy it.

Missing that chilling scraping sound from US remake but the story is more believable and easier to follow & still delivers a few scares.

Identical story to the US version (which I saw first) - not as good in my opinion, though the scary scenes do get the hairs standing up on the back of yuor neck.

I'd probably put 5 stars if i watch it for the first time. The ending part is scary... (try to watch it in the first time in the middle of the night, turn off the lamps, and no one actually at home ^^') Well u have to put urself in that kind of situation if u want to enjoy this movie. Oh yeah.. in my opinion, this version is more scary that the hollywood version ^^'

Definately dont bother. Stick with the american version if you want a good horror. Watch this only if you want to see the original storyline but dont hold your breath for any scary scenes. American version is 100% better!

My enjoyment of this was perhaps lessened a little as I watched the US copy of it first (how strangely similar they are). This was scary and full of thrills. Well worth watching.

A good movie with a decent story line, which does tend to be a bit lengthy in scenes where it doesn't need to be. Definately worth watching in this Original Japanese Version. Don't be put off by the prospect of watching the movie with subtitles, because there is not a lot of dialogue, and the subtitles and the story line are very easy to follow. Enjoyable.
