Great American remake and better than I expected it would be. It's not really that creepy, but the mystery factor makes for one truly engaging show.
A solid remake of Hideo Nakata's 'Ring', but it lacks the pervasive dread that is present throughout the original. It starts out very similarly to Ring, but certain parts of the plot begin to differ as the movie progresses. Naomi Watts does a fair job as 'Rachel', a journalist and mother of one. David Dorfman, who plays Rachel's son, is (funnily enough) one of the creepiest characters in this movie, and you wonder if he wouldn't have been better cast in a remake of The Omen instead. Lacking the subtlety of the Japanese version, there are a couple of cheap 'make you jump' moments that scream Hollywood, and are completely unnecessary in a movie that is supposed to scare people in a lasting way. Overall it's an entertaining horror movie, but it'd be worth watching the original first for the full experience.
better then i was expecting, well worth watching
its an alright movie..
wouldn't watch it more than once.
but worth watching just the once.
This was an ok movie. I'm not really a fan of scary ones or ones starring Naomi Watts. This is the story of a journalist, who tracks down this tape which is supposed to kill people 7 days after watching it, and tries to work out the story behind it.
Chilling to the core! If you love a horror movie to scare you, you have got to see this one. Amazing imagery using the latest in special effects.
Great suspense, good if you like that sort of thing we did.
Scary, chilling movie. Not the blood and guts sort of horror, this is a shock horror with always something jumping at you. A must see for all horror thriller lovers.
This movie is one of the best thrillers to come out in recent years. I have been disappointed with the last decade or so of thriller movies but this one scared me to the point that I had to tell myself "it will be over soon and I can go home!". I saw it at the cinema with great sound and picture, it really added to the experience. But I don't think its that different at home, it made it more bearable to know I could turn it off at any time.
But is it as good as the Japanese original?
Worth a look but it was not for me.
Still think this is one of the best edge-of-the-seat horror/thrillers I've seen.
Yes worth watching, but I would not go out of my way to watch this movie before many others.
Good movie with an even better ending, keeps you on the edge of your seat!
A hollywood remake of the great japanese film. I prefered the Japanese one but hey this version is creepy ala Halloween style flix.
Not bad...actually quite a creepy movie. Not in the same league as "Silence of the Lambs", but a good scare nonetheless.
Not a bad remake - do yourself a favour and watch the Japanese original first. It was much more engaging.
Not to everyones taste. Youngsters into supernatural horror flicks will love it.
I saw this movie about a month after I saw the Original Japanese Version for the first time. I'm impressed. This movie is a great remake. Gone are the scenes that linger just a little too long with no addition to the story line. In their place are new scary scenes, and a longer "Evil Video". The Movie unfortunately takes American privileges when following the story, and this is where I enjoyed the Japanese Version better, because a "Pshyco Psychic" story line is heaps better and creepier than the horse farm story line!
Better effects than the original, but the storyline is creepier in the Japanese Original. 3 Paws.
One Of The Best Moden Horror Movies I've Seen! Makes You Think Twice Before Braking Your Next Chain Letter!
A fantastic movie, not to be missed, very interesting concept, it will leve you wondering !!
The horror in this movie is original & clever - not to mention terrifying!
