Charming movie about how opposites attract. About how, in reality, no matter the outer circumstances of our life, we choose how we feel and who we are.

I selected 4 stars although I would probably not watch it again, however it did actually hold my attention throughout the film - I wanted to see what would happen next.

Maudlin piece with characters so 'eccentric' they became irritating. Van Sant has done better.

Yes, agree with reviewers, this is a nice little film/ story. Just the right bit of quirkiness to make the journey enjoyable. Well acted, well paced and interesting to watch. Not into supernatural but enjoyed the character in this story.

Sweet movie. Starts a bit oddly, but get to know the characters, gather the threads of the story, and enjoy.

Here's a tip. As Gus Van Sant made Restless he had the actors repeat each scene but without dialogue. In other words he's made a silent movie. If this idea appeals, I suggest you watch it first. It's in the features menu. This is another excellent work by Van Sant as he addresses death in its many forms with a surprising humanity. Look for the excellent photography, especially the use of focus to contrast scenes of empathy or antagonism. The young cast also bring something here. Well worth a look.
