Not Hiliary Swanks best movie. Story line has been done better before, very heavy handed and reveals the baddie far too early. Bored with it and couldnt wait for it to finish, laughable ending.
story lacked depth and so was very predictable - no brainer to watch. Not sure what Hilary Swank was wanting to achieve by accepting this script. Could of been much better.
The DVD hasn't even been sent out, It's not lost it was never sent out at all.
abit of a thriller but more focused on her boyfriends abnormalitys
If something turns out too good to be true, it probably is. And so Juliet finds out when she rents a fabulous apartment in a recently renovated old building. The guy that's renting it to her is jolly nice as well....
This film has a fairly straight forward plot and one that you can kind of guess the outcome to. However, it's worth watching for insights into how a certain kind of deranged mind sees things.
Typical US thriller watchable. Don't expect any surprise nor twist, there are none.
Top movie, positively horrifying to think you might just be living next door to a psycho! Well acted and superly filmed story!
Hated this one. It was slow and not very well acted.
Quite decent and saves the best to the final act but Crawlspace did it way better and had way more action. More a thriller ala fatal attraction then a Horror film but Swanks performance holds the film up well
Very creepy loved it, don't understand all the bad reviews at all...
Hilary, hilary, hilary - what were you thinking when you said yes to this script!! Very predictable.
as much as we love hilary swank the movie had too many silly moments in it. It just missed the plot i think.
Terribly monotonous, predictable, boring and quite unpleasant (and not in a good horror way).
I expected more from this movie. It was good but there were some silly parts in it.
I liked this movie creepy good . Rosie you should have watched just because Jeffrey Dean Morgan looked not so handsome well he was supposed too ! Well acted creepy & frightening, fabulous . !
DVD skipped so we never finished watching it.
Excellent movie. Maintained your interest throughout.
Although Jeffrey Dean Morgan & Hilary Swank are on my list of favorite actors I found this a little too weird. I could only watch about 30mins.Jeffreys almost sexy face turned into something quite sick & deranged when he was 'watching'Hilary at times & it gave me the creeps.Maybe it got better after 30 mins but I couldn't bring myself to watch it any longer to find out.
creepy to think someone could do this.
not a bad movie, wouldnt rush out to see it again though
boring, predictable and not much plot
Not bad - bit of a thrill
Awful. Dull, predictable and done to death. The one star is for Hillary Swank whose acting is great as usual.
This movie had such potential - it was good, but the story could have been more
A bit scary but a very good movie. Watch it during the day!
Very good movie but I hate seeing one of my favourite actors playing a bad guy.
very good full of surpense fulyy recommend four stars
Found it boring... If it wasn't for Hilary Swank I'd have turned it off!!
A very strange movie not scary at all
I enjoyed 'The Resident' with Hilary Swank, it was a good movie!
Nothing original in the plot - I've seen similar movies. Scary/creepy enough to entertain you without being over the top. I don't like Hillary's toothy grin. The man candy (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was pleasing to the eye :)
I love a good thriller and i also love Hilary Swank. This movie was no more than an average story, but it was well told and Swank did her usual fine job of it. i thought the director paid attention to detail like creating unease with his use of colour of the final product and i enjoyed the way the story was told. The ending was predictable however, but not a bad one.
Great movie, kept me wondering, plus glad I watched it during the day, hehe. Well worth the watch.
very disappointing
If it hadn''t been for Hilary Swank not very good at all.
The two male co-stars were less than convincing.
Filmed to be grainy "B" grade look, this was quite good actually. However, it was a little slow to begin and was a little predictable. BUT, there were some really creepy scenes before a little physical violence started. The violence was not very graphic though. I did like the creepiniess of it - but that was somewhat shortlived. There were some parts that I felt were unnecessary, such as the character of "August" although I suppose it did explain the background - he could have been left out all the same. Overall I did enjoy it - I liked the shadowy looks of it in parts, which added to the creepiness. The storyliine was ordinary and there were many silly bits - why for example, would the security cameras not have been noticed (surely he would have seen the computer and wanted to check it out?) Worth watching though.
My daughter said she is never moving out now!!!LOL..you'd have to be totally unlucky to land an appartment like this one..Fantastic movie, totally different role for Jeffrey Morgan..he was great as was Hilary.
Welcome resurrection of Hammer films after >20yrs. It is delightful to see the return of old-school Hammer veteran, Christopher Lee, in his 1st horror film for decades. This is an effective, atmospheric tale about a young ER doctor (Hilary Swank) in NY who searches for a new appartment after the breakup of a long-term relationship. She finds a marvellous flat in a huge old spooky building owned by a seemingly nice young bachelor, Max, & his grandfather, August, played by Lee .Despite the too-good-to-be-true low rent & the wonderful location & view, Swank finds herself sleeping poorly, hearing noises & generally feeling"creeped out "in her new digs. She installs some motion-sensitive cameras & slowly learns that all is not as it seems with her new landlord. Genuinely thrilling, exciting & utterly repellant as the full horror of what the landlord is up to is revealed. Not just for Hammer fans...don't miss this one!
