Actors: Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Steven Wright, Lawrence Tierney

Four perfect killers. One perfect crime. Now all they have to fear is each other. Former video store clerk Quentin Tarantino’s directorial debut, RESERVOIR DOGS, is a brutally funny, supercharged introduction to his supremely distinct cinematic vision, which was later to become one of the most mimicked styles of the 1990s. Mastermind Joe Cabot (Lawrence Tierney) assembles a crew of top-notch criminals to pull off a jewellery store heist. As the film opens it becomes immediately clear that the plan backfired, forcing the survivors, who have gathered at an abandoned warehouse, to figure out if one of them is, in fact, a police informer. The crew--Mr. White (Harvey Keitel), an aged veteran; Mr. Orange (Tim Roth), a wounded newcomer; Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen), a psychopathic parolee; Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi), a bickering weasel; and Nice Guy Eddie (Chris Penn), Joe’s son--begin to unravel as the pressure becomes too much for them to handle. When Joe arrives, the truth becomes clear in a vicious Mexican standoff.

This is not so much a review. I can't say much about it except that the disc wouldn't play past the opening titles.

Very dissapointed even if it is a very early Tarantino. Great cast, boring plot. Wont see it again.

Gratuitous and bloody, this film is not for the timid or faint-hearted. That said, the acting, directing and the overall picture of the film is excellent and lives up to the Tarantino-esque, anally-retentive standard that I've come to enjoy. Basically this is a film about the routine of hitmen and the dismissive disaffection that westerners think of organised, urban violence. I like the shock appeal of Tarantino's earlier films (this included) and I recommend it highly to those who like a divergence from Hollywood's boring, family-friendly flicks.

I must confess I don't quite get why people rave about Trarantino. It always seems like his movies are a complete triumph of style over substance. If you like gratuitous violence, then I guess this is a great movie. But to me, it was just boring.

A touch of genius about this movie. Tarantino has got some ability, but it wasn't consistent as it turned out. This is a hard hitting movie that keeps you glued to your lounge chair. A "four" rating is probably correct.

Great movie. I thought there could have been more development of the relationship between Mr White and Mr Orange but maybe I've just gotten too used to everything being spoon fed to me in Hollywood movies.

If it wasn't Tarantino, it probably wouldn't be worth watching. Part spaghetti western, part gangster film, the dialogue is the highlight.

and a half. Well acted and produced, and an interesting, novel approach to the story-telling. Just way too violent for me.

Tarantino obviously believes that excess means success. He is wrong. Never before have so many of the famous F.. words been squeezed into a movie. And then there is the blood and gore.If "Pulp Fiction" was the father, then this is the bastard son.

All of Quentin Tarantino’s movies I have seen are exceedingly violent. This one is no exception. This is a well made movie and perhaps may be too extreme for some. I enjoyed it.
