good movie and yes, arabic subtitles were annoying. Wouldn't it be a great deterrant if our Banksters and some of our Politians faced the same torture for the grief they have caused to innocent citizens of the world

This is a good movie about an important issue, and for once, Hollywood disposes with flag-waving and shows the dark side of America's 'war on terror'. There were some inaccuracies in the portrayal of Muslim life, and the storyline was unnecessarily complicated by a non-linear structure that was not evident until late in the movie, but overall an excellent political thriller (although the sub-titles for the parts in Arabic were annoyingly bizarre).

‘Rendition’ has all the makings of a first rate thriller staring Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon, Peter Sarsgaard, with Alan Arkin and Meryl Streep; a top cast. Anyone interested in politics will know that the story revolves around a practice, called ‘rendition’ by American, British and other governments in the fight against the so called “war on terror”. Specifically: the apprehension and extrajudicial transfer of a person from one nation to another, in reality it was an immoral practice that abused human rights and included kidnapping and torture in its modus operandi. The Film does expose the paranoia and hypocrisy of the American regime under George W. Bush. It is slow in parts and unnecessarily complicated but it also suspenseful particularly towards its end.

an interesting story, though expected Meryl Streep to have a far greater role, rather frightening what can happen the world today

It is frightening to think this could happen in our day and age. Why can't we all live in peace1

I found myself bored after a little while. Although the acting was up to scratch and the story was great, I felt it went on a little too long, and begun to drag in parts.

A CIA analyst questions his assignment after witnessing an unorthodox interrogation at a secret detention facility outside the US. A very insipid performance from Jake Gyllenhaal spoils a very realistic and gripping movie

We were riveted to this movie and unprepared for the surprise ending. A good watch.

This was gripping and the story very well told with some terrific actors and gives a version of how innocent people become casualties of the war on terror and only luck and the intervention of a member of the CIA who sees the truth of the matter can put a stop to terrible injustice.

Great film. Gripping plot. Well written and acted. Great cast. Understated, nothing cheesy or over-the-top.

Quality thriller / drama , quality cast, small part for Streep. This is an adaptation of the controversial USA Rendition program that was suppose to cope with the massive problem of how the USA dealt with terrorists post 9/11. Just remember one suicidal ,cunning, fanatical zealot can blow up 2000 innocent people. ???..So does the USA fight fire with fire. Yes???. but maybe every now and then they get it wrong. Is that the price you pay for erring on the side of the community, but what if it was you? Watch the movie then you decide.

This movie was a total let down; could have been so much better. I was expecting a lot from Reese Witherspoon and what a bodgy job for Meryl Streep! Peter Sarsgaard yeah just average. Overall it was a dissapointing film that could have been exceptional. The storyline had a great basis but left me cold.

Very interesting Drama with Reese Witherspoon playing Isabella well as did Omar "Anwar". Not an easy role being tortured, and well presented movie. WELL WORTH WATCHING..

This is a good film, however if you do not understand Arabic then perhaps you had best give it a miss. The sub titles were mostly below the screen and we only got to read the first line which gave the name of the character then "[Arabic]" The rest was lost below the viewable area of the screen. Reese Witherspoon is very convincing as the wife. One feels for the poor husband. A well written story.

This movie was totally enthralling from beginning to end. A modern issue covered from the aspect of all the different characters' beliefs and backgrounds, creating a thought provoking storyline. Thoroughly recommended.

Merryl Streep, another diverse role for her. A movie which makes you think and wonder if this really does happen.

Another Iraq/Afghanistan war box office flop, but I thought this was a reasonable effort. Especially after having recently seen the doco "Taxi to the dark side" that talked about the US prisons. Distressing in parts, but well put together.

Although the subject matter is important its execution lacks the sort of dramatic impact it deserves. Streep is good as the fanatical Republican who believes the ends justify the means.

This is great with the cast and acting and what story that keeps you watching this is a movie to watch. but the only thing i didn't like was the love relationship story with the bomber that just sucked. Witherspoon was awesome to watch as a pregant mother wanting to know where her husband was just great stuff from everyone but i wish there mas more to the ending.

This movie was one I had missed even hearing about when it was released. Very powerful story, undoubtedly with much truth behind it. Jake Gyllenhaal seemed somewhat at a loss throughout the film, not sure whether due to editing or lack of firm direction. His internal struggle did not read true. He is a very capable actor, something went wrong in the process from the script to the screen. It was nice to see how the disparate parts of the story came together towards the end. Is Meryl Streep being slotted into the hard-faced-bitch category a bit too much? She does do it very well. Enoyable experience, although quite confronting

Just saw the same story line on the news last night. It is only the names of the victms/terrorists that seem to change. This movie is current, engrossing and I have just cancelled our next trip to North Africa.

Worth watching, if only to learn exactly what an "extraordinary rendition" means. Interesting insight into American homeland security, but the movie is rather slow paced.

Left wing film maker tries to make interesting point working within mainstream Hollywood, and misses it entirely. Interesting, but deep like a bird bath.

Great cast that really seems wasted in this movie. Not as rivetting as I had first thought. Meryl is great but not a likeable character. Not a totally satisfying film.

I just watched this movie-which I badly wanted to see on the big screen-and then read the QUickflix reviews. Those who say this is a slow movie are, in my opinion, way off the mark. I, also, must take exception to the remarks about Reese Witherspoon. This is an ensemble cast movie. Her role was pivotal but she is not the focus. Someone expecting a central Oscar calibre performance from Reese may be underwhelmed. To my mind she was very, very good and fit in well with the other exceptional actors. Australian Dion Beebe (cinematographer) and director Gavid Hood should be pruud of this one. I wish I had seen it on a cinema screen but, even so, it was magnificent movie. Another fabulous movie ignored at the box office. Shame. PS: Extras on disc are worthwhile.

Little bit sad that the Americans can actually do this just because they suspect somebody. How would they like it if it happened to them. Worth the watch.

What an horrific situation to find oneself in, mistaken as a terrorist and brutally tortured for it. Luckily one person realised he wasn't guilty and saved him. A similar situation happened in the UK where an illegal immigrant was mistaken for a terrorist and shot dead. I guess the governments of the world can't get it right all the time. Cold comfort for the victims though.

Surprised at the low ratings for this one. I thought the only downside was Witherspoons awful acting. Apart from that, the plot and character realisation was superb.

Someone once said "if you give up a little liberty for a little safety then you deserve neither liberty or safety'. It's comforting that the free world still allows a movie like this to be made, but also a little disquieting to know how easy it is to find out I watched it.

Watching this film the question came to me, who is the more evil? The older men who send boys out as suicide bombers or the officials who sanction and order torture. Torture would seem to give questionable results. The extra "Outlaw" ,included on the disc is mandatory viewing. Can any one believe the denials by Rice and Bush?
