Paris, 2054. In a labyrinthine metropolis where every deed and gesture is checked and filmed, Ilona Tasuiev, a young scientist envied by all for her beauty and intelligence, is kidnapped. Avalon, the megalithic corporation that Ilona works for, puts pressure on Karas, a controversial policeman specialising in abductions, to find her as quickly as possible. But Karas soon feels a presence in his wake. He isn’t alone in the quest for Ilona, and his pursuers seem poised to overtake him. Finding Ilona becomes vital: the brilliant young woman is involved in a conspiracy which is bigger than any imaginable. This is described as animated, that may be the correct term , but this picture is far from "animated"! The storyline is apallingly unoriginal. There is some very clever artwork. As a charcoal and graphite artist I should have found this film appealing. Instead I found it flat and valueless in it's unrelenting use of solid black and white, with very little mid tones.

I was almost put off by the negative member reviews until I realised that these people did not like anime films

Gave this a good go but just not my cup of tea. Impressive animation but does become a bit monotonous after a while and the voice over artists/actors really let things down. Only got through half the movie.

impressive animation, very different to anything youve seen in that genre, very modern and very cool, its a film that you could watch many times and discover something new

"Renaissance" was one of the worst movies I have ever tried to watch (only lasted 10 minutes). I am only sorry I didn't take notice of the reviews that others had written.

Only watched enough to realise that I hadn't read the description properly. I'm not into "anime" and didn't actually watch it.

Didn't expect "drawings" (anime?) or cartoons, let alone in black

Watch the first 3 minutes and could not even get into the story line. Its all animated in black and white. Un-enjoyable to even watch for a short while. Discarded the movie without even watching it

Fragmented. Poorly photgraphed and hard to comprehend. 10 minutes was enough for me.

Exquisite noir cgi, a decent plot and a depth that would normally be a tv series rather than a single film. Betrayal, deceit, high-tech fisticuffs and philosophy, its pretty spank.

You'll be impressed to start then the B&W animation becomes hard to watch. Storyline was hard to follow also.
