When a London tunnelling project uncovers an unearthly fire-breathing beast from centuries of slumber, all hell breaks loose. Twelve-year-old Quinn (Bale) sees his mother, one of the workers, die trying to escape this new terror. Twenty years later as a "fire chief", he tries to keep a group of refugees alive with fierce dragons dominating the air, burning the land, and feeding on the ash.
Unexpectedly, Van Zan (McConaughey), a hotshot American militia leader, shows up with a ragtag group of slayers on a perilous crusade to hunt down and destroy the beasts. Tempers flare when there is a struggle for leadership - until both men realise only one species is getting out of this alive.

This movie had great actors and an original idea but it was just boring. It wasn't exciting, it wasn't funny, the action didn't feel real. Maybe its just impossible to make a good dragon movie?

Still a great movie, with great character acting and effects love the dragons. Matthew McC is a little hard to swallow in his Mad Max mode though.

Ordinary with a capital O. Mildly entertaining but the story was quite dumb and unbeleivable. As if the dragons could destroy the entire world and all of its miltary might, to then be defeated by a couple of guys & a chick...!

I found Dragonheart to be much better viewing than this movie, a total waste of time, I could have been watching something else and the story lines were just as bad as the movie itself.

Mad Max beyond thunderdome but with Dragons. Ho Humm action movie that had great special effects but forgot about the plot and storyline. Could have been great but turned out to be an average action movie.

Mathew Mc plays the muscle bound, brut bad boy who turns out to be a good guy. Mad Max style, future gone crazy script with pretty hot special FX. Better than I thought it would be!
