A great Australian setting, good actors, yet "cornie" scenes / plot throughout. If you want a "B-rated" American cowboy movie, this is for you !

Excellent Aussie thriller with a great twist towards the conclusion. You could consider this the Aussie version of No Country for Old Men. Aussie filmmakers need to get away from always making comedy and create more great serious movies like this one.

I really liked the film, its certainly one of the best Australia films ever made and its quiet a good action film. Not everything in the film is perfect, but I havnt come across a perfect film yet that I wouldnt change in some way. Well worth watching.......

Managed to watch maybe 20 mins of this dross when my husband & I looked at each other, shook our heads and decided we could not bear to watch any more. Why oh why do Aussie film makers have to portray Australians as half-baked idiots or ridiculous OTT caricatures??? Poor script poor acting = dumb movie.

Yeah- not sure why I liked it so much, but I did. Think I'm putting it down to an aussie movie actually being more than a group of lame teenagers doing something thats been done before! Alot of violence - thats actually all the movie as about but has strong storyline that is well executed. Good australian acting. If you dont like edge of your seat murdering rampage movies this ones not for you.

Shane Cooper (Ryan Kwanten), a young police officer, is assigned duty in the small town of Red Hill, Australia, where he arrives with his pregnant wife (Claire van der Boom). Old Bill (Steve Bisley), the head of the police force, learns that Jimmy Conway (Tom E. Lewis), a convicted murderer, has escaped from prison. Knowing that Jimmy will return to town to seek revenge, Old Bill orders his officers to arm themselves and shoot Jimmy on sight. However, one by one, the officers are killed by a ruthless Jimmy except for Shane who is incredibly spared. The reason comes out in the final scene of the film when Jimmy reveals it to Shane. The plot is powerful and the acting is just as good particularly that of Steve Bisley. Little is seen of the town, its inhabitants, and the scenes take place mostly at night. The gun shooting is cold-blooded, merciless and, in comparison, Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, in the famous American western, is like an afternoon picnic.

Excellent movie. Some people have obviously given up before getting to the twist and assumed they know what is happening. (Their loss). Top Australian drama.

Great. If the thought of "Training Day" meets Leone piques your interest, grab this one right now. Not many films like this come along unfortunately. Ryan Kwanten is good, and Steve Bisley shows that he's criminally underused in Aussie cinema. I thought "No Country For Old Men" was overrated, and "Red Hill" is an exceptional alternative that is both thrilling and poignant.

Really quite an unoriginal movie. Had the potential to be good but failed dismally. Save yourself the time and effort and go for a walk instead.

Good effort for an Australian style Western... gripping in parts, clunky in others. The Yarn was about retributive justice and Old Testament Justice Eye for an Eye type stuff however underlying this was a longing for things to be made right... I really enjoyed this adventure.

A simple storyline but incredibly enjoyable to watch. Young city cop moves to the country for an easy life but his first day at work becomes a nightmare as an escapee prisoner comes back to wreck revenge on the people who put him behind bars. This film is humorous in parts, full of suspense and has a heartfelt ending.

2 + Always look forward to any Aussie movie especially outback. This was just OK a light weight spaghetti western made in Australia. The script a little GOOD, then real BAD and sometimes UGLY. It was very basic and full of holes, and a predictable corny ending. A lot of revenge killings that just became a shoot out around the town, could have done with a few sub plots and depth of characters. If you like westerns and dont expect to much, you might find this a reasonable nights entertainment.

A really poor attempt at replacing an typical American redneck sheriif vs badguy returning to town for vengeance, into an Australian scenario. We don't go around rounding up and arming a posse of locals in Australia to deal with a renegade aborigine. I gave up about 20 minutes in. If you are thinking of watching this movie for some entertainment - DON'T - Go for a walk instead! Almost forgot the positives - the horse did his part well!
