Twenty-five years have passed since Alec Mason (Robert Patrick) led the Martian Colonies to freedom...and 12 years since vengeful enemies killed his wife, kidnapped his daughter Lyra (Tamzin Merchant) and left a broken hero in their wake. Jake Mason (Brian J. Smith), Alec's last surviving son and an officer in the Red Faction Militia, has his world turned inside out when he discovers that now, 12 years after her kidnapping, his sister is still alive. As a powerful new enemy swarms across the planet, Jake goes out to find her, only to learn that his lost sister is one of them...a cold-blooded soldier sworn to destroy the Red Faction. Jake must now battle the relentless regime and somehow reunite a family torn apart by war.

badly made with an obvious low budget. Could have been so much more. I think I heard that this was going to be the pilot for a TV series that was never made

Robert Patrick is not new to Si Fi but I thought his role was a little poor

Not even sure what this movie was about. Was it about the game? Was it a prequel? Who knows. Semi bad special effects and really bad dialogue.

Apparently, this originally was a computer game. The movie would have been OK as a TV series, where they could have kept the 'earth vs Mars' stuff going for a couple of seasons or more. Then have earth and Mars combine to take on some new alien thret etc.etc. As a movie, it is not the worse sci fi I have seen but it is not the best either. A lot of the computer graphics stuff was used in the original 'Star Wars' - but that was 35 years ago. Same with the plot, which seems to be a mixture of numerous movies most of us have seen in the past. The father taking out the battleship was a bit like the same scene in 'Independence Day' and the holograph was straight from the original 'Star Wars'. OK to watch, if you are a mad keen sci fi fan.

Not really impressed with that movie. I gave it two stars just because the story is worth watching, that's about it

So this movie was a game movie made without the game players in mind......pretty much, the whole Red Faction series was about the weapons and the environmental destruction...yet the movie was about emotional storylines and lots of CGI backdrops (and they did neither well...)...I'm pretty sure the only weapons I saw in this were either pistols or knives,or tactical nukes...what I expectad was a freaking sledge-hammer at least(there was one line referencing it, WTF!!!) but no proximity mines...nano rifles...thermobaric nuclear rocket launchers...what the hell...all I can say is this movie is not worth watching if you either like the red faction series or like watching movies (save yourself an hour and a half here people)...that is all.

A made-for-TV movie that doesn't really accomplish anything -- one of those midday movies you see on and think that mowing the lawn might be more interesting. I'm a sci-fi fan, but this just didn't thrill me.
