Really wasn't a big fan of this movie. Was quite slow in places and really seemed to be a bit drawn out. I didn't feel much for any of the characters even though the movie seemed to be indicating I should. Was easily distracted through the movie and had trouble staying interested even though the story should have been quite good. Overall I think this movie didn't live up to the hype.

My wife lived in Karratha as a teenager and had Red Dog in her home for about 30 mins (only) after John had died; so the base of the story is definitely true. But the story she tells of the labourers is in direct contrast to the nice, sanitised image that the movie portrays! We LOVE dogs, so found parts of the movie touching; but overall were VERY disappointed. The acting was only OK - way too theatrical for what was a really remote mining town, with the really coarse type of men who actually worked there. We also are glad that we did not pay big $$$ to see it. Steve

Ordinary film. The story was wafer thin and there were no obstacles to the "love story" at all. All the emotion in the film was short circuited with none of it earnt by any character. Looked good with some good acting but that was about it. Very disappointed.

Not bad. I am glad I didn't spend money to see it on the big screen. It's a light, feel good movie. Nothing spectacular. Nice story and average acting.

I had a dog like that in Broome, but she was black and had long sharp wshiny teeth. Everyone in town was my friend. Movie was well directed and humorously acted.

Surprisingly good and originally handled for a wandering dog movie. If this keeps up I won't be able to count the good Australian movies on one hand.

Over-rated and silly movie. Gave it half an hour before ejecting it. The acting was poor and the humour lacking. Thought it was catering more to kids.

This was a very good movie, although the story was a bit disjointed. The use of non-period props was disappointing however, along with the appearance of the statute while the dog was still alive.

What a disappointment. With all the hype around this film I suppose I wasn't expecting another "strictly Ballroom in the Outback". This corny, supposedly true, story is the sad world according to the country town loners channelled thru a Red Kelpy. If you don't make the anthropomorphic jump to the conclusion that this dog thinks like a human, it makes no sense at all. KIds and grandma will probably love it.

Definately over rated in our opinion. With all the hype we expected a lot more but after almost an hour gave up "waiting" for it to grab us.

Red Dog himself was great and the scenery magnificent and well shot: this movie had the makings of a classic but why oh. why did the whole Aussie thing have to be laid on with a trowel, a little more subtlety would have greatly improved this film.
