i loved this movie a true classic of aussie film. It shows the personality of the outback.
loved it. the underlying message is so valuable. really lovely movie
This dog has a place in all West Australians hearts.A tear jerker in parts
Excellent movie. Very entertaining
Brilliant Movie, One of the Best Around.
Good movie. Enjoyed it very much.
I thought this had good reviews!! This was the WORST movie I've ever seen. And I like dogs too!. Had to switch off after 40 minutes. Unwatchable.
I was bored throughout this movie. I was looking forward to seeing it, but it was weak - with a token handsome American lead and cliche support characters. I felt like it suited the after school telly slot. The dog was cute, that is all.
Great movie and especially if you love animals, dogs. entertaining
Kinda quirky, and not really a style of movie that I enjoy, but many probably would
Absolutely loved it; lots of laughs and plenty of tears both of joy and sadness...certainly takes one through a gamut of emotions. I would watch it again...loved the larrackenism of the mine workers...they would be a hard-bitten bunch but not without 'heart'...and this is the core of the true Aussie...a movie to be thoroughly enjoyed.
Terrible. Unfortuately another example of bad Australian film.
Aaah !, This movie had it all, a great insight to 'outback Australia, comedy and tears. Yet another movie Australians can be proud of, iconic.
Heart-warming story, some scenes made me think, hmmm, low-tech effects ... Based on a true story, which makes it an incredible tale. Nod to Australian multiculturalism working in a workplace/small community. A few Aussie macho male myths are busted ... Or at least challenged. Glad I saw the film, thinking it would be worth reading the book on which this was based.
Good aussie movie. this aussie movie also has the same type of characters(sterotyping) that you find in most aussie movies.
red will make you cry, but if your not australian you won't relate.....which is the problem with australian movies. american beauty.....most people can relate to, either with a character or story, but if it was made in australia only aussies would have related to it. the aussie film makers would have said lets use real aussie characters and killed the movie. (i really don't like aussie movies.)
Did not live up to the hype.
a really great australian movie.don't miss it.
Definitely earned it's credit as an Aussie classic. Be prepared for a tear jerker!
I thought it was pretty good.
An emotional story that is 100% believeable but still keeps you interested, cute, funny & heartbreaking. 5 stars from me.
I love Aussie movies in general, but I found this one didn't live up to the hype of most reviews (for me anyway). It moved too slowly for me and wasn't as endearing or as funny as I hoped it would be.
I quite enjoyed this little gem. Unlike some "Aussie" films, this one did not make me cringe so much. The "true" story has been tweaked a little, but is quite entertaining. Not a fan of the red dog/red cat fight scenes, but that was my only criticism.
A really fantastic Aussie movie, with laughs and even a few tears. It's amazing that one dog could make a group of strangers come together and become mates. Lovely true story.
An absolute hit. Funny from start to end with a touch of sadness. A wonderful story told in the most wonderful way, A true Australian classic.
Great movie, funny, teary.Great story line. Has it all..Will watch again.
Pleasant film in the quirky Aussie style; the dog was cute and if you're a dog lover you'd really enjoy it.
A great Aussie movie... good cast, great story, wonderful shots of Aussie outback and a bit of an insight into life in certain small towns and communities. Highly recommended flick.
another very good aussie title, (seen more than not recently). Well done to the little aussie battlers who always seem to 'just plod along' doing what they do best. In this case..... movie-making. This title is well worth the watch for the whole family, kids should especially take to this 'doggie' movie......... well done another recomended title
Another wonderful Australian movie.
Really enjoyed this movie. Great story, based on fact. A must for dog lovers and make sure you've got a box of tissues with you!!
Definitely a great change for Aussie movies. Made us laugh, made us cry. Excellent.
What a wonderful story. It had me laughing, then crying. Good acting and great soundtrack. A "must see"movie!
A wonderful heart-warming story of a dog in an isolated Australian mining town and how his love effects a whole town. Truly an Aussie classic.
Australia hasmore red earth than any other country and a RED DOG who has a faithfull affinity with the real Aussies in the red outback mining town. A great film.
For all of us who love dogs. A real tribute to Kelpies and the Miners of Australia. A great movie.
I loved the book - and this is an excellent film of a great story with likeable characters and awesome landscapes.
Good Aussie true story definite tear jerker!
A great Aussie movie. I saw this at the cinema originally and the audience were wrapt. The acting is good (Rachael Taylor is easy on the eye) but Red Dog steals every scene. The scenery of the Kimberleys is stunning. The Aussie music soundtrack from the 1970s is great. In fact, anyone who has ever worked in the outback; anyone who lived through the 1970s and all dog lovers should see this. Made me want to jump in the car and go visit the Kimberleys again - an urge I held back on, given it is several thousand Kilometres from where I live.
I would highly recommend this great Aussie movie. It will become a classic, just like 'Muriel's Wedding' (although completely different to that movie).
Finally! A good Australian film!
beautiful, funny, lovely. We all loved it, including my kids. Highly recommend it!
Aaaaaah!!!! Red Dog - my husband and I, no I am not the Queen, both shed a tear at the end. But, what was an American doing in our movie? Nothing against the yanks, but.........great movie and because we have a kelpie, black, and love animals, we really enjoyed the movie.
A brilliant movie but have a few boxes of tissues close by!!!
Great movie, but in the style of most quirky-feel-good Australian films so there's not much in the way of suprises. The dog also doesn't actually feature very much - it's there but the story is more about the people around the dog than the dog itself
Really great movie! Koko who played Red Dog was amazing. Much humour (and sadness). Recommended for everyone
Loved this movie. I lived in the outback for a while in the eighties and they really caught the spirit of the people out there. Grab the tissues! Its good to have a cry like this every now and then.
A "feel good" movie. Sad in some places but well worth watching.
I hav seen it at the movies now on DVD. Great family movie and very underarted.
I loved the movie from beginning to end. Gorgeous dog, wonderful story just brilliant entertainment. Loved it.
Light, funny, sad - all the family enjoyed it. Great Aussie movie.
What a fantastic movie, made me so proud to be Australian. Amazing how a dog can give you so much , highs and lows. Great storyline and a true credit to all australians.
worth a watch - great family night movie
This was a huge disappointment after all the build-up. The film consisted of a patchwork of events put together to make a story that lacked any depth or originality. The characters were typical stereotypes of the Aussie male. 99% of the time the dog was running on the road and didn't display the character and personality that are seen in other dog films. Australia can do better - so can our dogs.
A story Kelpie lovers will connect with. The story had a clever mix of comedy and drama. Laugh one minute shed a tear the next. The red outback was at its best- red and dusty!!!.
If you have a chance on the DVD look at some of the interviews, and Red Dog's screen test.
The movie was really sad and happy, love how red dog showed his emotions and played the role well
Awesome story, great characters - red dog was most inspiring. Good aussie movie.
So good and so much like the north west of Australia. Love a dog like Red!!
A beautifully told story.....the dog's expressions are priceless...
Really good aussie movie i thouroughly enjoyed it a bit sad but a bit fun all at the same time definately worth watching
Excellent.Worth watching.A wonderful movie for all to enjoy.
Good Australian yarn. Normally don't like to watch animal movies as I can't bear anything bad happening to them, but nothing dreadful happened to the wonderful Red. The dogs playing Red were a little too obviously different beasties, which I found a little distracting.
OMG, such a wonderful film. Honestly, I thought I would cringe at the "Australian-ness" of if, but truly loved the warm, delightful characters. And being a dog tragic, well, Red was so beautiful...
good yarn, bit cheesy in some parts but good entertainment. Glad i didn't go to the movies to see it
a great moving story of life and its comraderie in the iosolated outback.
Great Aussie storytelling about a great Aussie story! WARNING: be prepared for laughter AND tears!
What are wonderful Aussie story brought to life in a kind a comical style. The scenes on the bus & with Red Dog versus Red Cat were hilarious. Easy to shed a tear for Red Dog. Will definately watch again.
I could only watch half of this movie, RED DOG their was nothing on the other half, could you send me another copy of this movie as i was liking the half that i did see.
This was ok but did not live up to the hype in my view.
Apart from the Dog there were no real stars or central characters and just almost cameo roles for so good actors.
quite good but the movie kept stopping as though it was on pause it made it neally inpossible to watch
I loved the story, especially when I learned it was a true tail at the end, and I laughed my way through it. I enjoyed the storytelling, but the Australian style doesn't always grab me - it isn't real. A great story.
I usually don't enjoy Australian movies but this one charmed me.
Enjoyable movie with some genuinely very funny moments.
Good Aussie movie, better than I thought it would be. Genuine. Makes for an enjoyable afternoon.
Real Aussie movie - humour and a few tears. Good stuff! Most enjoyable movie I've seen in a while - real people.
Couldnt stop crying the whole way through.
Good Aussie movie I enjoyed it. Sad though but enjoyed it
Yea wasn't too bad for a ozzie dog story
Your typical Aussie movie. What a great dog is Red Dog. So sad.
This Australian movie is a very good film, all of the actors do a really fine job, so does the dog, and that cat!! All of the characters are so very life like, and believable, Where ever it was filmed, the scenery was perfect, its how I remember WA out back, The top Aussie movies, are at least as good, as any foreign movie, and the people depicted, are so real and life like, We know people just like them !!!
Loved this Aussie tribute to loyalty and mans best friend. The characters are lovable and believable, the storytelling is mostly authentic (although over 10 years I'd expect mine-workers to have a bigger turnover!) and when you add a dog to the mix you have a winner. A lovely story that invokes laughter and tears - and it has a dog! I feel a bit sad that to get noticed in the global arena we have to feature an American 'lead', but I'm more dismayed that I notice the foibles of the Australian Cast more when played beside a yank. I put this aside though and got thoroughly immersed in the touching storyline and amusing characters.
I've got a soft spot for Red Kelpie's. A very nice, very Aussie story.
The Aussies have done it again. What wonderful characterisations. Very Australian. The script was funny and the movie was both funny and sad.
The Screen test of "Koko" on the Extras was terrific. Everone I have spoken to loved this movie.
What a lovely movie!! Funnier than I expected, I really laughed at a lot of the scenes!! Great portrayals of "outback miners" or at least what we think they are like. Highly recommended.
Somewhat predictable but a rewarding film. Worth watcing.
I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did! I It made me laugh and (kind of embarrassingly) cry. Koko (Red Dog's actor) did amazingly. It's a heartwarming tale which is a true story! Great Aussie flick.
Bad. Just typical Australians drinking and fighting go anywhere in Australia and that is what they do drink and fight.
Grew on me as it went, but not as good as I expected after all the hype.
Started slowly in a laconic, typically outback kind of way. The story develops well, though, and was entertaining.
really funny but also realistic about life in a small remote town in W.A. Well acted and put together and enjoyable all the way through the movie.
Red Dog (the animal not the movie) should have won an Oscar, what a performance.
funny and sad at the same time. great movie
A real aussie yarn - brilliant acting (including by Red Dog) with a great storyline (though very end was just a bit too cheddar cheese for me). I didn't think I'd be into a story about truckies and miners being blokes and heros in the Australian desert, but I loved this film. Red Dog is a hero. A much better interpretation of Louis de Bernieres' book than Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
My new favourite Aussie film, seriously! Loved it, made me cry, laugh out loud and feel very proud to be an Australian!
Great story, poorly acted - except for the dog who was the best actor. Why do we feature second rate American actors in lead roles always in Oz moview????
I wasn't expecting to enjoy it but I really liked it. It was funny and it made me cry..twice, which is a first. The characters are stereotypical but that was part of the enjoyment of the movie. Definitely a good choice to watch.
Loved every second of it!! Even going to add it to my own dvd collection!!
Somewhat formulaic and stilted in the beginning but charming enough. The main characters esp Red and the unsung hero - the landscape, are engaging enough to carry the awful script.
what an amazing story - we loved it!
Film, like music, is an art form that works best when it takes you an emotional journey and in this regard "Red Dog" succeeds extravagantly. The dog/s playing the lead character are brilliantly handled, the humans perform very well and the film making is reliable and staisfying. Your heart strings are plucked all the way thru the fairly simplistic story and you may feel emotionally manipulated but what the heck - it works. No wonder this film broke box office records in Australia.
Write a review..'Red Dog is definitely a laugh and cry, watch again movie. It is good to see another Aussie hit, would be better to see more Aussie in the arena with USA and Europe.
These Aussie movies are rare when they are this good..!!!!
We enjoyed it good for the whole family 4 stars because it is ok for everyone
Very odd in some areas, but very moving in others. "Red Dog" is a highly engaging story with real Australian spirit. I'd definitely watch this again. Great job, filmmakers!
Funny and very sad really enjoyed the movie.
Excellent Aussie movie. A little slow to begin with, but then totally absorbed in the story.
Wonderful. Loved it. Great for whole family.
It was pretty good the beginning was a bit drawn out for my liking it could have gone an extra half hour it seemed to be over way to quick .....pretty much what I expected about a story of a dog in the Aussie outback its been waay too long since we've had a good old Aussie Movie such as Red Dog
A review in five words or less. Stunning. Spectacular, Heartwarming, Heartrendering. Loveable.
This was such a beautiful and touching movie. It stayed with me days after watching it.
A beautiful and sad film, good on the producers.
It is a lovely movie but forgettable.
I enjoyed this movie because of its uniqueness but thought it was a simple and predictable story that was dragged out for too long. I felt some "cultural cringe"!
What a crappy movie, I was so bored through it all. It had a few funny moments but not enough to keep me entertained. It could've been alot better, didnt like the story line. Too predictable. This movie is so over-rated as I thought from the start.
Soppy, sad movie about a dog and a lot of boofhead miners. A tearjerker with a predictable ending - keep the tissues handy!
Terrific movie. Very moving and very entertaining
i thought it was brilliant, had everything, all australian should see this , and of course anyone in the world should too. Just great wish there was a 10 star rating I would give it that.
In a word, heartwarming. I always love a good Aussie movie, and this is one. Great for everyone - our whole family, including Dad, relaxed and enjoyed this on Saturday night. It's also a fun flashback to the 70s, with some great music.
(PS the book is great too!)
What a great movie!! Wasn't interested in it when it first came to the movies & thought "just another Aussie movie", but wow, how wrong I was..............this movie was brilliant & being a true story as well, made it even more enjoyable to watch. Loved everything about it, the characters were great & it just shows that a good movie can be made without all the unnecessary swearing & violence that most Producers/Directors these days seem to feel necessary. Shed a few tears but on the whole, it was just a down to earth, feel good movie. LOVED IT
Great movie, thoroughly recommended - have some tissues handy!
One of the best doggie movies I have seen for quite a while. Very moving yet totally enjoyable. Reminds of the scot Bobbie of years ago, we saw his monument and I hope to see Red Dog's.
A really enjoyable down to earth film.
Somewhat disappointing, given all the hype when it was released. I should have known better.....many of the characters are caricatures and there is the American love interest.....the dog barely kept it all together and he even tossed it in at the end!
Great feel good family movie.
Great Aussie movie - loved it! The intelligence of dogs never ceases to amaze me. I'm a real sucker for movies that centre around animals.
Lovely aussie film. Tears were falling at the end though.
Really enjoyed this movie. Red dog reminds us so much of our red kelpie. The acting was good and the setting of the 1970's was true. The music was catchy as well.
loved it- lots of Aussie caracatures and a great heart.
It's a great Aussie movie. Starts off awsome - so funny - classic australian humor but it does slow down, and yes is quite sad. Good effort and I think we should all see it at least once.
when we aussies make a good film ,nothing or no one comes close to the quality of our films and our unique character that we always show in our films ,yep! this is one of those films ,great aussie story.
Great Australian movie, sad in part.
My partner and I really enjoyed this movie. It was everything that'd we'd heard and expected. It was funny and sad and entertaining.
After all the rave reviews I wasn't overly enthralled.... the beginning really seemed to drag out, funny for the last 1/4 and finished nicely I wouldn't go out and buy it for my collection though ... good effort for an aussie film ...
Loved it! Great movie for adults and kids alike( with a little explanation from parents here and there). Highly recommend. A good story with a bit of humour thrown in.
Such a touching movie! Must watch for everyone!
WONDERFUL LOVED THS MOVIE.
Just fabulous. A must see film
Great Australian movie, with the usual feel good factor.
Was rather disappointed after all the hype. Was cute, of course, but where was the plot. Was like a 100min beer commercial.
It was a good movie and they got the Australianism down to a tee, however I htought it would be a lot better. I thought it was going to be about the dogs life but it really only covered a few years then said he'd been to all these other places but didnt go into detail about how he got there, etc.
It was ok but the dogs life story could have been about his life, not just a few events in it
10 minutes in and my blood is boiling- another stereotypical depiction of Australia as a male working class idiot drinking culture ooh but this time with a jolly multi cultural edge to it! It amazes me how screen writers and directors are such good little automatons in towing the line in government policy-but it is so terribly drear. This is truly awful
Red Dog is set in an outback mining town in the 1970's and the pace of the movie reflects this. The characters are over-the-top but the action is understated. It's a bit cliched but nevertheless is a syrupy heart-warming tale of man's best friend, with great acting from the dog and a cameo from red cat. Wonderful outback scenery.
Too jingoistic. Not convinced by the hype. OK for the family.
Love & support Aussie movies BUT expected more after all the hype.Based thinly on a true story. If your are around 12 years old or over 60 you will love it. Very simply storyline lacking substance, therefore a very slow build up. Set in the 1970's in a W.Aust mining town. The people in the town are characterized as real " over the top ockers" which detracts. The American Lead actor was for overseas markets but I suggest should have been and Aussie Lead.eg Hugh Jackman Lot of the support cast were very " wooden" with their acting.Outback scenery was beautiful. One for the kids really.
Best film I have seen in a long while. The lack of obscene language shows good dialogue can be written without it.Compared with Pulp Fiction which used a form of the "F" word for every second word, this film proved we have a few talented script writers left, who actually have a vocabulary at their fingertips when they need it.Intelligent people will enjpy this film immensely
Wonderfully refreshing Australian movie, that made me laugh lots, & cry, both with joy and sadness. Didn't want it to end.
Excellent. Entertaining, and true Australian humour and characters (even the foreign ones!)
Funny easy to watch movie. You don't have to concentrate to remember what is going on. Some sad parts and some real belly laughs also
I toot a photo of my dog standing next to the statue of Red Dog in Dampier. The movie was wonderful and i needed tissues for some parts.I hope there will be more Aussie movies in the future.
An enjoyable family-type film with minor adult themes. Cute story. A must-see Australian movie.
Disappointing movie. Overacting and exagerrated Ockerism spoilt this film
After all the hype about this movie I was so disappointed. The dog was the best actor. I found the movie mostly slow and some parts very far fetched. There were only a few parts I did enjoy, and I love dogs and the outback so I was looking forward to watching this movie. Some will really enjoy ...... but it wasn't for us.
great movie very very good
This is a great movie with a wonderful soundtrack. Lots of laughs with some sad moments. Loved it overall.
Tear jerker in a couple of spots
Brilliant move and really enjoyable
I give it five stars. What a wonderful movie. It has fun, sadness and a great story line. The cast is great and they all fit their roles.RED DOG.A MUST to see.
A great Aussie movie but I feel the younger generations and other countrties may not understand the good old Australian humer
highly overrated.storyline was flimsy and acting ordinary
A great movie for dog lovers
another Australian classic!
Built up to be a really great movie on hear say, I thought very touching movie
Brilliant movie. Whether the story is actually true or not is irrelivent. Very moving and enjoyable for the whole family.
I never realised it was a true story until the end. Was enjoyable. Needed a box of tissues. Perhaps not the standard that all the hype made it out to be, but good.
Disappointing, shmaltzy, wooden.
VERY ENJOYABLE.... What can be more AUSSIE than a cattle-dog... 1 VERY GOOD MOVIE
Fantastic Aussie movie. A simple story but also one that is funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking. Loved it. Just make sure you have the tissues handy!
Wasn't what I expected but a good movie
Iconic Aussie movie. You will need tissues. It leaves a lasting emotional impact.
Such a great lovely film. Sad, happy, wonderful, all myriad of emotions is just what you're given, and the fact that it's all from a dog...?? Crazy. Helps that we have a dog just like Red Dog, but even if you don't, it's just a fantastic show to watch. Don't expect to get through without tissues. Love the Aussie factor. Go us!!
This was a lovely movie.... A little slow to grab you at the start but enduring it paid off. A great view of Australian community and the love and respect of man and dog!! Makes me feel like going to dampier to see it first hand!!
could not get into this movie - not my cup of tea.
Great Australian movie. Bit sad thought. totally not what I thought it was going to be .
Brilliant movie. Make sure you have a box of tissues!
Excellent movie, lots of laughs and tears, this movie has it all.
Great Aussie movie, maybe a little over acted, but it made me laugh and cry my eyes out!!! Bloody dogs!! :)
We just loved this movie a real Australian movie don;t get many of these anymore
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Loved what the story was about and how it was told. Great music. Great scenery. Made me laugh, made me cry. Definitely worth watching.
not as good as the sundowners or on the beach a great yarn and lots of fun for dog lovers
i suspect this film was a school project for a few kids A for effort .
If its not a school project its a dismal failure
not a bad movie but a bit overacted and cringeworthy in parts. Many discripancies with the era it is supposed to be in (1971) made it less believable (the music, cars, mobile satellite in background) and the blokes were very well mannered for mining men. With an american as the lead it was obviously made for an international audience but still an entertaining movie.
Loved Red Dog, beautiful Australian scenery, good story line, tells it like it is, please make more movies like that one!
This DVD did not run correctly. Stopped at important parts. Could not view parts. Dissapointed. My player is OK all other DVD run OK. Please check this Red Dog DVD for faults.
The best movie I have seen for a while: a very touching tribute to the love shown by a dog to his adopted master. Also, a good portrayal of life in an outback mining settlement.
A good movie well worth watching
A great australian flick, made me laugh and cry!
I enjoyed Red Dog very much. there is something about K9's connection with the human race, That keeps me wondering about the bigger picture in our destiney.
What a great family movie, we all loved it, very sad too. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
it was okay but not as good as i thought it would be considering all the promotions on tv.
Loved this film! its very Aussie real & a wonderful story based on a true little Red Dog. Highly recommend!
Red Dog is the best Australian movie in the past ten years. Every Aussie should see Red Dog.
This is a lovely film that lightens your mood and opens your heart
I have seen better oz movies but it was sad.
The whole family watched and loved Red Dog lots of laughs and tears were had by all
Not worth wasting your time watching it
This excuse for a movie is an absolute insult on a persons Intelligence and totally makes Australian people look like a race of complete fools, I wasted my money going to the movies and would NOT recommend this movie to anyone who has any pride in Australia or the Australian people
a great little family movie with great soundtrack. Thoroughly enjoyable
A great movie with an equally great soundtrack. An emotional ride so bring the tissues.
Great Aussie film, brang back some memories of our late dog. i think they should do a sequal to it. would be interesting to see .
What a great Aussie movie. Great depiction of the time and the story. Loved it. A true Aussie classic.
Very accurate depiction of the Pilbarra region of WA. Having been a local I found some discrepancies but were easily overlooked in the scheme of things. The actors portrayed the local population well and although the story was well presented it all seemed a bit melodramatic and anticlimactic. A nice unsensationalised story of an Aussie mining town.
This is sooooo brilliant !!!
Great scenery, not a rivoting storyline but enjoyable
great movie story of the red kelpie that wandered all over the outback and became everyones friend, sad ending but good to see they made a monument in the dogs honour, need the tissues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing Australian movie - it captures the heart of the true blue aussie and our true blue best mates - our dogs. It was a movie that the whole family loved and would watch again.
Great Aussie movie. Good fun & good story.
Wow! great movie. Don't usually go for Aussie movies but this one was one to see again.Highly recommended
This is a must see movie! One of the best that has ever come out of Australia! It has so much emotion to it!
Fun movie - laughed most of the way through and shed a few tears at the end. It's not especially objective about the mining industry (it was funded by companies).
This is seriously the most cringe worthy Australian movie I've ever seen. The marketing to create such hype for such an apalling movie is the only creative thing about it. Our entire family of all ages absolutely HATED it so don't waste your time!
VERY SLOW BUT LOVELY ENDING **
An absolute brilliant all round movie, I loved it. A great Aussie classic.
Wonderful movie, I was sceptical but fell in love with the story. Very well written and has an amazing cast of Australian actors. I guess every man and his dog should see this amazing tale of a man and a dog that chose "his" master. Great to see Aussie cinema at its best.
Bit slow, but great story.. I cried.
I may have found it entertaining if I was 12 years old, unfortunately I'm an adult so I found it quite dull. Not much happens in this Movie, so I really don't know why it rates so highly, it's really just a mish mash of cliches, and a dog that likes riding in cars and a bus! Boring!
A quirky film with the dog as main character but the story doesn't add up to much and the humour and backchat could have come straight out of The Sundowners ('60)
What a really feel good story - Just who is the master us or them?
Loved this movie!!! it makes you feel warm inside. Best movie i have seen in ages and make u proud to be an aussie
best movie i have watch in a long time loved it
Did not live up to the hype. Besides running around, jumping in and out of vehicles , woofing food and pretending to fight with a cat what was there. It appeared to be a narrative
It has some good moments but I found it a bit too quirky australian and a bit slow.
This is one of the Best Australian Movies I have seen. I wish people would have an open mind rather than cringe at Aussie Movies and not watch them.
The story line is brilliant and will have you both laughing and crying in places.
I recommend this movie to anyone.
3 1/2 stars. I enjoyed it, without it being a great movie. Perhaps it was over-hyped too much and I expected more. A good movie.
I laughed, I cried and I loved it quintessential Australian
My dog died just threeweeks weeks ago and I thought this movie might just be too sad, but it wasn't. I loved it, yes, have a couple of tissues handy, but really and uplifting, funny, romantic and interesting true story. Well done. The "special features" were well worth a look too.
A superb true blue aussie flick. Great viewing and very entertaining.
Enjoyable movie Well worth watching
A wonderful Australian 'family' film, though be aware of the sad parts for the younger children. I was very pleasantly surprised as I thought it was going to be a case of all advertising hype but it was so much more, a great movie, a great story, well acted and not much of the broad, cruder side of Australian humour that is sometimes evident. I would recommend this one for the whole family for a great evenings viewing.
Really good movie. Obviously there has been a lot of hype surrounding this movie. And a movie about a dog may seem like a childrens film but if you think that you'd be wrong. It certainly isn't a childrens film and although they might enjoy it, there are enough 'adult themes' to justify being "PG". It's very light hearted and funny but also sad in parts. It's not a 'sad' movie per se though and well worth watching.
A Great movie that the whole family enjoyed, we watched it twice, Defiantly worth seeing.
Absolutely brillant movie! Have the tissues ready thou this movie is touches the heart. BRILLIANT story and a must see!
Excellent, a breath of fresh air.
Loved it, great aussie humour. The connection between Rachael Taylor and Josh Lucas wasn't there that's the only thing I didn't like, good actors individually but I didn't feel it
all i can say is FANTASTIC!!
A great Aussie movie with warm Australian humour. Based on a true story, the characters are real life people and the acting is brilliant. Topped off with great Western Australian scenery, the movie is captivating till the last minute. Beats "Australia" by a country mile !! Do not miss !!
If I read the word 'Aussie' one more time I will scream.
congratulations to the presenters of Red Dog for an amazing storyline, brilliant production and thoroughly
well directed Aussie movie Highly Recommended!!
I remember the red dog and am one of the people red dog befriended . this movie is as true as a movie can get to the true love a town stray can recive and give
run free big boy
i have never seen a aussie move that hasnt been good when its got the assie dog in it lol
I loved this movie!. It was so great to see a really good Aussie movie again.
There are lots of familiar faces in this but the star of the show is the dog.
A handsome looking fellow who steals your heart and every scene in the movie. It has it's sad moments but it is nicely balanced with some very funny scenes which help lighten the mood. Set in the 1970s, the movie looks very authenic with old cars (lots of valiants) and old style clothing, which brings back memories!. I can't wait to see it again and am looking foward to the dvd release later this year. Don't miss it!. The whole family will enjoy it.
Based on the legendary true story of the Red Dog who united a disparate local community while roaming the Australian outback in search of his long lost master. Refreshing to see a film with no swearing and no sex. Have your tissues ready too. Just wonderful
