Hilary Swank plays Katherine Winter, a former Christian missionary who lost her faith after her family was tragically killed and has since become a world-renowned expert in disproving religious phenomena. But when she investigates a small Louisiana town that is suffering from what appears to be the Biblical plagues, she realises that science cannot explain what is happening and she must regain her faith to combat the dark forces threatening the community.

Excellant film plays like a watered down version of the omen. Katherine goes to a small town to debunk what could be the 10 plauges but alas things are not as they appear. A strong leading performance by Swank thou the rest perform equally well. The direction is strong and throws in plenty of plot twists as once the viewer figures out whats going on the plot changes its tone and rewrites everything. Not much in the way of gore but plenty of blood without going overboard on a gory bodycount but the film shoots itself in the foot towards the end and tacks on a very silly ending but despite thats its a reasonably good film and def worth a rental.

I was really wrapped with this movie. Not only is the acting on par, the story line is great. It is different, exciting, scary, touching and sexy all in one. It is a enjoyable thrilling side to what you think is a typical movie. But it offers much much more!

Hmmmm, i don't even know what to say. The storyline had potential and good actors...BUT...it felt all mish mash - like watching many stories put into one, not so much confusing just strange and detracted from the overall viewing. Watch it if you have some spare time.

Not a film I would have chosen but it was quite interesting. The Biblical plague idea is not a new one, nor is the use of the fanatical residents of the Bible-belt in the US. But the performers are strong here, and the film suitably sinister. Rather ghastly at times, particularly the violence towards the children, it is not for everyone!

Hillary Swank is terrific, I was able to develop an empathy for her character, not easily achieved in horror/thriller pics. Her character had an apparent history which effected her thought processes and abilities to believe in the supernatural forces.
The movie contained all that I look for in a good horror/thriller. It held my attention, had great suspense moments and plenty of twists and turns. I definately recommend this movie for horror/thriller lovers.

I agree with the comment that this is very much open to a sequel. Good watching - a little strage until you get the gist of it - but I guess thats better thann being too transparent. Worth a watch if you like a bit of a scare !!

This was far better than I anticipated. The special effects were patchy in the first half but got better. Perhaps we're just too used to multi-million dollar special effects today and we're spoiled. Great story with many plot twists along the way. The end makes a sequel a definite possibility.
