Violence

Director: Shawn Levy
Actors: Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie, Kevin Durand, Dakota Goyo, Phil LaMarr, James Rebhorn, Hope Davis

A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, Real Steel stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

The family (of all boys) loved this movie...I even watched it twice! The kids thought it was awesome and my 7 year old couldn't stop jumping all over the place during the fight scenes. Did have some mild swearing a couple of times (not needed) but would still definitely recommend.

Not a completely bad film. Got a little tedious in the middle and predictable in the end but it was still enjoyable. Great music, decent acting and great SFX. Not something that i would feel the need to watch again but it did fill in a quiet night.

Surprisingly a good movie! Great for Father's Day. Very touching, funny and action packed. My 3 year old loves the boxing robots and my 7 year old cried at the emotional scenes. Love that the ending wasn't cliche either.

This is an unusual story arc. Robot's boxing? Ok.... But it works. With excellent performances from the three lead characters combined with a simple and predictable story line. But the robot fight scenes! This is a movie that is glorious in High definition. The quality of the graphics of the robots and the choregraphing of the fights and the robots moves is top notch. You will be replaying the major robot v robot fights scenes of this movie!

Both myself and my wife really enjoyed this one! Great casting, Hugh Jackman plays well - as does the little kid. It is violent, but only in the sense that robots are smashing at each other - don't think that anyone will be offended by that? Steve

Like this as did my 8 year old. This movie would have been far better if the bar scenes and the zoo scene had been replaced with something else and the film possibly could have got a PG rating and would have been a bigger winner.

This is robot rocky - a movie about fighting robots and an underdog robot to add to that, how can you go wrong with that! Any one could enjoy this movie.

While not the best Hugh Jackman movie out there, still worth a look. Like Transformers meets Rock em' Sock em' Robots. An interesting idea of Robot wars in the boxing ring. The special effects are just as good as in Transformers as far as the robots are concerned. Typical story of small guy beating the odds and winning over the crowd. If they made Rocky 8 or 9 this might be the plot with Sylvester Stallone' s head stuck ontop of the robot. A good popcorn movie that'll fill a nights viewing.
