Razorback combines the shock thrills of JAWS with the stylized mayhem of Mad Max. It’s a bizarre, funny, surreal horror-thriller.” – The Sun

Somewhere deep in the Australian outback there’s a marauding, indestructible creature that can rip a man in half and destroy a homestead in seconds.

Razorback is the astonishing feature film debut of music video maestro Russell Mulcahy (Highlander).

Boasting stunning cinematography from Oscar® winner Dean Semler (Dances with Wolves) a terse, exciting script bursting with droll humour by horror veteran Everett DeRoche (Patrick) and a fearsome creature created by effects master Bob McCarron (The Matrix, Braindead) Razorback is a ferociously entertaining, adrenalin pumping thriller that proudly counts Steven Spielberg and Quentin Tarantino among its self- confessed fans!

This works more on the fish out of water story, as there is no where near enough kills, and the portrayal of the outback hunter hicks is close to criminal but that's part of its charm. Like all characitures it is fun to examine and look for the truth in the middle of the exaggeration.

The film looks sublime...beautiful cinematography. Some good performances and memorable moments, but the ending is too generic, and ultimately a let down. Good example of aussie genre film making of its time though.

I remember watching this movie when it first came out and thought I'd watch it again. I shouldn't have bothered. As often the case with films of this genre, the passing of time has been unkind and made the film look amateurish at best. Most disappointing.

A classic of Oz horror, with the usual aussie dash of humour chucked in. I recall watching this at the drive-in when first released and loved it then - especially the then-current Lindy reference (a pig stole my baby!!). I do seem to recall a few extra scenes that appear to have been cut over the years, including an extended "look" at the beast's eventual demise, which made the story flow a bit better. Had they still been included I would have rated an extra star or 2. Definitely worth a watch.

Australia's answer to Jaws and similar monster animal movies was this movie about a giant razorback boar that terrorizes the Australian outback. The movie never takes itself too seriously (just look at the outrageous character 'Dicko' played by David Argue), so just sit back and enjoy it for what it is.. or on the edge of your seat if you prefer. If you're a fan of monster horror movies with a dash of comedy, then try razorback
