What a stupid movie. Really had no true story - started odly, muddled along and finished abruptly. What a waste.

This movie had some brilliant moments and you come around from hating her because of her total self absorbtion to understanding what made her the way she was. Okay that said, for the first time ever, I had to fast forward bits of this movie it was so excruiatingly slow.

Boring and slow. I don't know how this film can be classed as a comedy. Self centred addict almost ruins her sister's wedding because she doesn't realise it's not all about her - then you find out she's her mother's protege. Just when you think the pace can't get any worse, the stylings of on-screen "musicians" wander out of the speakers. Bleh.

Strange movie this one probably because it was low budget, independent, and a alternative formula. It is about a weekend with a dysfunctional family and a diverse mixture of guests of many ethnicity and cultures. It had live alternative music during the actual dialogue which was a bit different. The self centered main character with abuse issues did not work nor did the meaningless sickly toasts at the wedding rehearsal . Other characters were shallow and the storyline jumped all over the place. The director used a roving camera which caused the movie to be somewhat disjointed . Overall disappointing viewing only worth two stars.

What was Anne Hathaway thinking? A family wedding overtaken by a spoilt, emotional addict who wants everything to be about her. What was I thinking wasting nearly 2 hours of this sad, silly movie?

Rachel Getting Married is an interesting movie tracing the events surrounding Kym's return from rehab to the preparations for her sisters wedding. I found this to be a provocative look at relationships and do not believe it fits the rating of "comedy, drama, family" movie.

I was blown away by the style of this movie. It was so naturalistic, I've never had quite this experience, it was almost like reality TV! I loved the story, loved the actors. It was thoughtful and...wise.

It is a shocker. Tried to make myself watch it but it was like trying to get interested in a badly shot C grade movie. I think they used the bad camera angle to try and create mood - disaster! Total waste of money - for watcher and maker alike !!!!

Don't be put off by some of the negative reviews, this is an excellent movie. I don't normally like intense, in your face, full on emotional catastrophies, but the director held this one together very well and the casting was brilliant - all of the characters were believable. Far far more real than any TV soappie. The intense drama caused by the Hathaway character was balanced out by the depth in the background, the understated wedding detail and the wonderful cast of "extras". The ending too was satisfying, not some over the top climactic just to shock. Some of the dialogue was muffled, which is a frustration with so many films made these days.

I want to go to a wedding like that! Intense family drama with the backdrop of significant tragedy and the fallout for every member of the family. Anne Hathaway was extremely good as the drug addled and very troubled Kym. They're all trying to manage and everyone's position is understood. If you want lighter entertainment it may not be for you.

To be honest i didnt know anything about this film when adding it to my queue. So i was surprised when it started to find a drama with a hell of a lot of amature shots. It wasnt the worst thing i've ever seen. I think it was good to finall see Ann Hathaway do something that was just a pretty face film.

This was like watching one of those mockumentarys except not a good. This was the worst movie i have ever watched. We were fast forwarding parts because they just dragged on for so long. Plus the 2 sisters talked so fast the subtitles couldn't keep up!!!! Don't waste your time on this one.

Does the world really need another movie charting the ups and downs of a disfunctional family as they come together over a weekend for a wedding? Probably not but at least this film boasts a brilliant performanc by Anne Hathaway as the troubled black sheep of the family. She ranges effortlessly from hysterical to quietly sorrowful in just moments. A stellar performance that well and truly justifies yet another weekend wedding flick.

One of my favourite films ever. Extraordinary characterisation and I thought even the other guests at the wedding weren't 'extras' they were adding some further depth to the film. Had me in happy tears and sad ones.

Reality TV style story with great acting but still too close to reality TV. Inlcusion of 'everyday' moments may add realism but also adds the mundane. Despite this the acting is great as is the music. Worth watching for Ann Hathaway's performance alone.

I couldn't quite work out why this movie even got made. There were several long scenes that added little to the story. like the dancing at the wedding, and the speeches at the pre wedding dinner went on forever....like some real life weddings perhaps...and they weren't even that interesting.

I liked the drama points in this movie, but felt it got a little bogged down in the day to day "reality" of a family wedding. The sequence at the rehearsal dinner felt like it was in real time, I didn't need to hear a speech from everyone at the table. I wound up fast forwarding. Fortunately Anne Hathaway saves the film with her incredible acting and the drama keeps you interested... but barely enough.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen!! If Anne Hathaway wasn't in it I would've switched it off very early on. Couldn't fault the acting it was just way too slow which is a shame cos the story line had some potential. Probably 20 minutes of good stuff and then just a lot of rubbish thrown in to make it movie length.

Great storylines, the relationships between family members, the addiction part of story and the love between everyone involved was portrayed beautifully.....And the musical background complimented it perfectly..I would love to have an actual wedding ceremony like this one, of course without the background drama :-) Best movie I seen for a while..

This was one of those movies that made us squirm as we watched certain scenes, feeling the discomfort of those in the particular scene. For me, that means that the performers and writers have done their job. So while this movie pushed some buttons in us, at stages wanting us to yell at Anne Hathaway's character and tell her to her over her selfish ways, but other times had us feeling for her and thinking her family was the whole problem. Her father is the softest person in this movie, and there is way too much time spent on the pre-wedding function, and a lot of other stuff that was wasted (loading the dishwasher??), but overall it is a much better than average movie.

Although I've rated this film low it's a strangely entertaining movie! If you're feeling voyeuristic or want to attend a wedding! It's like being a guest or close family friend and watching all the family dross that can surface amongst family relationships on occasions such as weddings! However once given a bit of an insight into these people's characters I realy wanted to understand them more! The characters were not really fleshed out enough for me to really feel that I liked or cared enough for them. Anne Hathaway is trying to engage us, but in the end I don't really feel that there were any real resolutions for them, perhaps except for the deliriously happy bride who's getting on with HER life! There are some deep messages peppered throughout though, and the wedding day is all colour and movement, a fiesta of multiculturalism!

Fascinating look at a loose cannon (Hathaway) injected into a relatively normal household during what appears to be the world's longest wedding celebration. You grow tired of the wedding long before you grow tired of Hathaway as a spoiled, inconsiderate, self-pitying ex-junkie. It's a terrific performance in what is otherwise an overlong black comedy. But jeez, cool the interminable speeches and the always-heard folk music group rehearsing in the background.

The movie was most certainly an amalgam - it was not just one of a kind but every kind of person thrown at us and all good people (except for one bad egg, Rachel). It was most certainly a rich tapestry of life displaying a wide variety of cultures. At times, it was a veritable United Nations. I am undecided about the comments by one crictic that Anne Hathaway made "this raw-nerved, narcissistic Tasmanian Devil not just believable but somehow likeable". I just wondered how someone could totally lack responsibility for their life and be so selfishlessly unprincipled in her behaviour. Then again, that is what drugs do to the addicts - no control over their lives and inappropriate responses. Her family seemed so grounded and united. Why was she so out of step? How could you like a character lacking normal competencies and integrity? The movie had a reality TV show feel about it. Ending with the wedding, I had mixed feelings but overall found it somewhat annoying and lacking in purpose or any life lessons. Another point of annoyance was Hathaway's cigarette in hand throughout many scenes and a sister who looked very similar - I was constantly having to think and confused saying in my mind "no that's the good sister, Rachel". There were probably more deserving roles for Oscar.

What a waste of time! About 10 minutes of drama (which was well done), but 100 minutes of pointless filling. Maybe a multi-cultural wedding is interesting if you're there, but not to watch in a movie. And why an Indian wedding for an upper-class American white girl and an African-American? It is never explained.
