Strong horror violence

Director: John Erick Dowdle
Actors: Jennifer Carpenter, Rade Serbedzija, Johnathon Schaech, Columbus Short, Greg Germann, Denis O'hare

Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers Wilensky (Columbus Short) and McCreedy (Andrew Fiscella) already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. Unbeknownst to them, a woman has contracted a rare strain of rabies. When they try to leave the building with those injured from a wild attack by the infected woman, they find that they've been locked in. Indeed, there are police, SWAT and CDC crews securing the building. But phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those quarantined inside.

A scene for scene remake of REC though one scene was thrown in to simply make it sick and appeal to the American target audience(the cop trying to walk on a broken leg) and I don't gross out easily esp. being a human centipede 2 fan. The film is excellent and well acted by all esp. the fireman who looks a bit like Paxton from Hostel. REC was filmed in a less serial and more gritty way but it def holds up well for a remake. A few decent jump scenes even had me on my toes near the end.

Pretty slow to start while they are setting up the characters, etc but once the action starts it is pretty full on.

This film was mistakingly sent to me, and since I had nothing better to do, I watched it. Crap is a word that comes to mind, b-grade is another, although I do like to find the good in things, hmmmm aaahm yeah I'm really struggling to do this. Some people might like it, but I just couldn't come to a building full of people being locked down by the authorities due to having rabies in a zombie type fashion.

It's almost a shot for shot remake. And it is done very well. Still, there was no point in remaking it like there is no point in remakes anyway. Watch REC if you want to experience this traditionally.

One of the best horror films I have hired in the last 6 months to be honest. Its not a brilliant movie by any standard. But I did enjoy watching it and got a couple of good jumps near the end.

If your looking at this look at a film called 'Rec' instead. its the same film but the original Spanish version, it is excellent, like most european films the acting and cinematography are something that cant be matched by hollywood film makers. WATCH REC INSTEAD of this it is eminently better

One of the scariest films we can recall from the last decade. A really effective use of single point of view camera style (similar to Cloverfield or Blair Witch - except that Quarantine did not suck). The plot is basic - a reporter and cameraman tag along with firefighters for the night and they attend a building where a woman has been yelling. Within minutes people are bleeding and the building is sealed off by the army outside. No cop out mystery here - by the end of the film we know what is happening and how it started. The US remake of a Spanish film 'Rec' - this is really worth a watch late at night with the lights off.

This movie will definitely receive a swag of awards: 1. One of the worst movies of all time 2. Inferior cinematography 3. Acting that doesn't even make B grade 4. Movie production cost less than a McValue meal Boring, predictable, stupid

Filming not easy to watch but as seeing it as a newsreporter not really seeing such appalling tragic onslaught (if it could happen) then it still was worth watching, if not always able to see the storyline by the reporter was convincing and still kept me til the end.

Oh my god, there should be laws against the spending of hard earned money on stuff like this. Seriously, Blair Witch had something, Cloverfield jjust didn't make the grade, and I don't even think there is a grade with this POC. Save yourself 2 hours of your life and watch something, anything else.

It's okay, but I struggled to hear what some of the characters were saying over the sound effects of the helicopters etc flying overhead.

So in tune is the premise of this film that at one point in the first 15 minutes I actually forgot I was watching a movie and thought a fly on the wall infotainment show was on. Jennifer Carpenter brings an incredible fun and then intense presence to the screen, complementing the rest of a fine cast. Have not seen Rec so can only assume it is out of this world.

Excellent horror/thriller with all the components that make this type of film great -- genuine scares, gross-out special effects, terrorised performances and likeable leads. I was very pleasantly surprised .. was expecting tripe but got prime rib eye steak! Now keen to check out the director's other flick "The Poughkeepsie Tapes". Jennifer Carpenter is terrific and very watchable.

Sigh....Cloverfield meets The Loonies. So many holes in the story that it resembled a cheese grater. The cinema of "anxiety" lives on in this movie. Make enough people run around aimlessly, while all the time screaming and panting, drop the camera several times, dim the lights and you will create tension in the audience. Whether its the type of tension that the director intended is another thing. Jennifer Carpenter has a place in my heart, mainly due to her lovely performance as Debs, Dexter's sister in the series of the same name. I can only assume that everyone's acting was a result of poor and aimless direction, as most of the cast have been good in other things. Cloverfield was great, this was the opposite.

Dramatic movie with twist at the end. Not quite an horror movie however it keeps you on the edge of your seat with the sudden rush of action. Not an easy movie to watch.

Great flick. I wanted to murder the lead femal actress myself for her overacting towards the end. Still a worthy little horror story.

Despite some bad acting and some of the standard horror fare - it turned out to be a damn good flick. Only complaint is that its too damn dark.

A nice little thriller to have a different take on the viral outbreak/zombie story. Claustrophobic and tense, definately worth a watch. People who aren't fans of the "steadi-cam" genre of filming (shaky cam, one person's POV, e.g. 'Cloverfield') may not enjoy it as much. But for 90mins, I got a great kick out of the great acting and suspense. Recommended.

I was very dissapointed in this movie. I felt the acting was very poor, dark filming was bad as well as the acting. Very average nothing special about this movie at all.

Ok, so for once we can believe the ending, but the story just seemed to be hung together as a weak excuse for a huge amount of blood and violence. The characters were flat, and the screaming just got irritating ... really quickly. If you're a fan of Aliens, Resident Evil and 28 Days then don't expect the same value out of this one.

Really enjoyed it. I was worried about the bad reviews read in the paper but I did enjoy it. A bit worrying that the government can do the things it did. Ending was a little disappointing but otherwise loved it.

This was better than I thought it would be. Absolutely hate the movies that are coming out of Hollywood that have camera movement in them but this wasn't too bad. Bit like Blair Witch Project only better. Worth watching.

I thought the main actress was quite bad and annoying. Very average acting for a very average movie with a storyline exploited before more than once. Handheld camera filmed, we're far from the impressive Cloverfield. Poorly made with just two or three frightening scenes. Ridiculous last shot..quite forgettable flick. Boooo!

To my surprise, this turned out to be excellent. Excellent acting by Jennifer Carpenter although her screaming and whimpering did get a little on my nerves towards the end - but then, I guess I would have been the same in that situation(!). If you can put up with all the action being in the dark all the time (although it wasn't too bad) it was nailbiting and horrifying. The only complaint I'd have is the start went on too long. A very good movie with lots of suspense and a different twist by being "behind the camera" the whole way.

if you liked the point of view camera style like in The Blair Witch Project, then you will probably like this movie. Personally it makes me sick to watch, i had to turn it off a few times. But if you can get past the jiggly camera, the story line is not so bad. It does start off a bit slow though.

I got excited by the trailer, then worried by the poor reviews. Sure, it's been done before various guises but it's still a cool movie and I love the cast.
