Director: Paul Thomas Anderson
Actors: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Adam Sandler, Luis Guzman, Emily Watson, Julie Hermelin

Adam Sandler gives an amazing and unusual performance as Barry Egan, a socially impaired owner of a small novelty business, who is dominated by seven sisters and is unlikely to find love unless it finds him. When a mysterious woman comes into his life, his emotions go haywire, fluctuating between uncontrollable rage, lust and self-doubt. PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE leaves you addled, a little dizzy and overcome by a pleasing, unplaceable sensation. From the writer/director of BOOGIE NIGHTS and MAGNOLIA, PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE is a dark, lovely and unique film experience.

This was the weirdest movie I've ever seen and I DIDN'T LIKE IT. I forced myself to watch it til the end, hoping for something to happen - but it didn't. Totally wasted 90 minutes of my life. I would have given it NO STARS if I could.

This was a long movie, and the no real point in the end. I understand comments about the art of film making and his character , and there was a storyline but boy did he take a long time to get there . Sorry art for arts sake this was not .

I know this comment won't be popular, but this is seriously my most favourite movie of all time. PT Anderson is an absolute genius and this film is his masterpiece. I love it more than I can actually express. But it's an acquired taste and I think only people who really love the craft of filmmaking and storytelling will get PDL.

one seriously strange movie. there is a story there that is kind of cute but so much assorted other weird stuff that you have to be dedicated to see it through to the end. couldn't really recommend this one.

The worst movie I have ever seen of Adam Sandlers. Rate it ZERO! Returned after watching first half hour ... couldn't stand the music or non-story line movie any longer than this.

Adam Sandler in a serious acting role, and he does it well. Obviously if you are looking for Billy Madison 2 this is not the one for you. Watch Happy Gilmore instead. Punch Drunk Love is a fantastic movie, beautiful story, great cinematography, fine acting, especially from P.S.Hoffman. It is a dark romantic comedy if you want a category

Not an Adam Sandler fan anyway, but this seemed pointless and didn't really go anywhere.

I'm a fan of some Adam Sandler movies. It's almost a shameful secret of mine. But this movie I found quite different. It has none of that simpleness, doesn't appeal to the common crowd that his previous efforts have. At times it is almost painful to watch, awkward but intriguing characters in this dark script. You find yourself walking away from the movie only to find yourself coming back for more. In the end I was glad I put myself through it. The camera work and use of music is done incredibly well and the script and acting outshines anything else that Adam Sandler has to offer.

This is a gripping movie, and one that I have now watched over 5 times. Adam Sandler is amazing as he picks up this dramatic role, you can really see he has put his all into it. Explores issues about mental illness, and love. Beautiful moving soundtrack, with sublime cinematography. Its a pity people cant take the time to appreciate movies like this anymore.

I loved this eccentric movie. I am sure I would not enjoy Adam Sandler's 'normal' movies. He was great in this.

An absurd 'love story' with some pretty violent undertones. I am not sure that this is as innocent as everyone else seems to think. I am not an Adam Sandler fan at all, but at least this was watchable, but not really enjoyable as such. Disturbing does come to mind.

This is an odd little number. I am not an Adam Sandler fan, but had heard this was quite different. Nonetheless I was still expecting something more conventional in terms of romantic comedy (along the lines of the Wedding Singer), so was quite taken aback with how very very dark and bleak this movie is in teh first hald. There is a palpable shift later on, and this deeply eccentric movie, while horribly hard to watch in places, does ultimately pay off for the viewer. Definitely not one for some Adam Sandler fans, as it is not his usal genre, though there are shades of Happy Gilmore in his character. Overall this is an intelligent and structurally interesting black film, with a flawed but original and provocative script.

This is not a movie for fans of Adam Sandler's regular comedies. However, if you're into the bizarre and enjoy a movie that challenges you to think about what it might mean, this one is interesting viewing.
