I really enjoyed this movie. I've seen the original and that is good too.I heard that the original play was given bad reviews because no one realised it was a joke. Can't imagine why they didn't get it.
I was very impressed with Uma Thurman & Will Ferrell's singing. They both have excellent voices. The funny thing is from the point of view of the characters; if they'd done the play as if they wanted it to be successful, it probably would have failed! Heh heh heh. Very funny and enjoyable. No wonder its had such a good run on Broadway.
The best funnest show ever No wonder it has run on Broadway for years
Very Silly Movie. The storyline is ok and the actors did there job well, but I belive they could have toned it down as they carried on a bit. Funny in some areas and annoying in others.
Funny, witty and totally watchable!
LOVED it!
Nathan Lane is hilarious!
I couldn't watch past the first 15 minutes.
Very funny and great performances.
This is great movie ,lots of laughs and great performances by the main actors.A tour de force.
silly and funny, good fun
This is a wacky movie with a lot of laughs from beginning to end
Loved this, second time around, version of Mels classic - The Producers. If you like being entertained, having your leg pulled, listening to clever lyrics, enjoy dance routines and belly laughs, this is for you.
a few laughs but for the average jo-blo who enjoys hollywood blockbusters- stay away. i like matthew broderick and a laugh at the germans...but otherwise...don't bother
I've seen the stage show and I enjoyed the stage show better than the movie.
Lots of wonderfully weird characters but very enjoyable overall.
This was just as entertaining as the original movie of the Producers, which I saw some years ago. Fine performances from all the cast with great dance routines and wonderful music.
Weak story line & poor acting despite colorful sets.
By far one of the most hilarious films around. The movie's origins as a stage play are very obvious -- the scenes could be almost exact duplicates of stage design and scenery -- but in this case, it works! Perhaps because the play is about the making of a Broadway play. A fraudulent director is intent on defrauding the tax department by raising an enormous amount of capital, producing a flop that will close in one or two nights, and disappearing with all the investors' money. The show is called "Springtime for Hitler", aimed at shocking and disgusting the public.
Essentially a musical, almost all the vocal parts of the movie are in song, with relatively rare moments of prose dialog. At first this rather grates on the ear of the viewer, but slowly the humor of it all begins to penetrate, as the actors make fun of themselves as well as their subject.
I'm sure it did much better in the theatre. Just didn't translate as well to screen. Some good funny bits though.
did not like at all, switched off
BEST BEST COMEDY i've seen for a while! LOVED it! since i didn't get to Broadway, this was the next best thing! Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Uma Thurman, Will Ferrell all shine, shine, shine! VERY funny! a must see!
The worst thing I have ever seen. Turned it off after 5 minutes.
Wasn't sure if I'd like this or not but it turns out that I really enjoyed from start to finish!
A modern day musical with fantastic sets and dance routines. Call me silly but you get a laugh out of this as well and the acting is great.
very funny, laughed the whole way through. Really only for people who like theatre though, keep that in mind.
Outstanding performances from the entire cast, coupled with Mel Brooks genius. Not since the days of the MGM musical have we seen such a faultless transition from stage to screen in a musical. I loved it.
I found this movie quite boring. It's only saving grace were Uma Thurman & Will Ferrell's characters.
If you like quirky musicals you will love it.
Much much better than the stage show!
Uma Thurman is excellent.
Whilst this movie has some well produced dance sequences, and the pidgeon scene is hilarious, the movie is too frequently very crude. The sexual content of the movie, including men hiding an erection, a man in a sexual relationship with an elderly woman, and many other scenes of a similar tone make this movie a bae and de-humanising experience. My wife and I turned it off after 1 hour.
I quite enjoyed the musical version but somehow it fell flat. I don't know why, as the cast was great with fun performances, but it just didn'e grab me. I have the original on DVD & this was virtually word for word with the original. The new songa were quite good, but the whole thing looked like an amateur production, despite the quality of the principals. It just seemed curiously empty, & not a patch on the first version.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Producers,If you love Musical Comedies then Dont Miss This One
Is it just me but is this film over rated, just like the play.
Granted there are some great numbers, but it is very American sappy humour and not challenging in anyway at all.
I must say the "Spring Time" is a great number, but I would not recommend for anyone to rush to see this, but I also said this about the play, that also was not imaginitive and brainless.
A fantastic fun movie equally as good as the original even though this one is based on the Broadway play. Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick are brilliant. I was a bit sceptical at first wondering whether or not Broderick would fulfill the role as good as Gene Wilder did, but he comes shining through. Uma Thurman was great and the rooftop scene with the writer was absolutely side splitting laugh a second stuff. Great watching - you will enjoy unless you absolutely hate musicals. Sometimes the singing was a bit over the top and detracted from the story line even though it all made sense.
Funny but outstanding performances from Nathan Lane, & Uma Thurman. Worth the time to stop and giggle but not mind blowing funny.
