I thought this film was ok, manly because Meryl is so good an actress and Uma is so lovely to look at.

light hearted and a little off the beaten track for your typical romantic comedy. ie njoyed it the second time round as much as the first. love the underlying question of society - we tell people to do what makes them happy because we usually don't personally experience any of the negative consequences for such hedonistic behaviour do we!!

A sweet love story that I wished had worked out for the two of them in the end because they seemed to be so much in love.

I guess a 14 year age gap could lead to problems for some, but until Rafi mentioned it I didn't even notice there was one. A real pity because they seemed to be so in love and I would have liked to have seen them make it work. A believeable love story, except for David being the son of Rafi's therapist. That was a bit far-fetched.

I agree Kim S. For some reason I thought this was a comedy too, and Quickflix renters need to know it's not!! It is however a polite, communicative drama with next to no swearing and a bland NY flavoured soundtrack. Storyline was interesting enough. Meryl Streep provides the only laughs.

This had it's moments but overall not that interesting. I think the age gap and religious difference is meant to be contraversial - but really, yawn. Watching a glamour couple go through their emotional roller coaster, not that enthralling. Pity they didn't built on some of the punchier moments!

Refreshing editing and a style of directing that highlighted nice personal aspects of life made this comedy pitched drama pleasant to watch. An ending aligned with contemporary western discourse will also stimulate a wide market. Streep was outstanding.

A romantic comedy with a difference - the characters are believable! I think the best part of this movie is the way that the characters were treated throughout - the funny scenes weren't forced and the decisions and mistakes made had a wonderful ring of truth to them. Add to that that it didn't follow the tried and (not so) true Hollywood Romantic Comedy Ingredients and you have a refreshingly witty movie.

This movie was totally not what I expected. It wasn't your normal romantic comedy; I thought it would be way funnier. It's worth watching for its different style, but don't expect a heart-warming romantic comedy - you will be disappointed.

Meryl Streep is wonderful, as always! Uma Thurman was very believable in this role as it was after her break-up with Ethan Hawke. A believable story because it doesn't end as 'happy ever after' but more realistic. Great acting and very funny!

I found this movie difficult to follow in parts, and quite boring. Whilst the concept was ok, the script-writing was a bit dull. Meryl Streep, however played her character well, but all in all a very unexciting film!

No imagination used when deciding on the plot to this film. Meryl Streep plays a middle aged neurotic, closed minded zeolot to her faith who happens to have a patient (Uma Thurman) that falls in love with her son....who's NOT of Meryl's faith. Son has sex, Uma looks like a randy skinny woman trying her best to not act her age, and Meryl does one of her worst jobs yet portraying her faith in a very unflattering light. Don't bother viewing this one, instead go outside and watch the grass grow!!

The thin premise of this film was not enough to sustain interest after the first 20 minutes or so. Before the "secret" is revealed there are one or two mildly amusing exchanges between and Uma. But once the cat is out of the bag the events unfold with a weary inevitability.

Starts well but the thin premise does not provide enough laughs to go the distance. About 1/3 the plot plumments towards sentimentality and events unfold with a weary inevitability.

For some reason I was sure this was a romantic comedy. That is before I actually watched it. It is definitely no comedy. I have no problem with drama but how about some character development or a decent storyline. By the end of the movie I felt like I wasted an hour & 40 minutes of my time. Very disappointing!
