Actors: William H. Macy, Jeff Daniels, Reese Witherspoon, Joan Allen, Tobey Maguire, J.T. Walsh, Don Knotts, Paul Walker

It's 1999 and teenager David (Tobey Maguire) is a dedicated fan of PLEASANTVILLE, an old TV show set in a utopian small town USA, circa 1957, where things are definitely simpler. A very different place to today with cable television, divorce and teen sex. Big fan David may be but he didn't plan to actually be in PLEASANTVILLE. Incredibly David and his sister Jennifer (Reese Witherspoon) are transported into a black and white 'teleworld' of perfection with no need for bathrooms. Forced to take on the persona of TV siblings Bud and Mary Sue, they bring their modern habits and desires into an excessively polite and sex free small town environment. But when they teach the 'tele-folk' how to express their true feelings, they realise that life in PLEASANTVILLE is anything but black and white!

It is a while since I last saw this movie but love it - all about intolerance and people's small mindedness of anything 'different'. Great movie

If you're in the mood for a movie that takes its time in unraveling to be a great story that runs the gamut, go for this one! It covers a lot of ground without ever feeling too thin or overbearing. This one will have you questioning the morals to your own life while laughing all the way through.

An unusual little story, very well handled. A rare movie suitable for family viewing that the kids will like, and that won't irritate the parents.

This modern fairytale covered a lot of ground succinctly and with style, revolving around passion and enlightenment with a healthy nod to art. It also emphasizes the crucial life lesson that just because you know the story doesn't mean you know whats going on.

Movie is great - the technology used was a treat to watch. Check out the extras as they show how they managed to create many of the effects.

A wonderfully original movie - I was captivated throughout. Fantastic story, great acting - only the ending prevented me from giving it 5 STARS.
