The Vietnam war was fought in the steamy jungle by desperate men who don't trust anyone. That makes men into animals and their actions are well shown in this film. It is so realistic that it could be a documentary.

Amazing war movie! Cool to see people like Charlie Sheen and Johnny Depp early in their careers.

Unlike other Vietnam War movies I've seen, this one provided a real insight into what life must've been like during this war.

Golly all the actors look young - spot a quick scene with Johnny Depp looking almost baby-faced. Would have made a big impact at the time although the world has changed since this was made - war is horrible wherever they're fighting it.

Not my cup of tea at all. Most of the movie consisted of gun-fire and the inevitable 'f' word. Might appeal to the real 'blokey' blokes but did nothing for me!

Not bad but it would be quite some time before I saw it again. Way over the top language which does distract from the storyline.

I have seen Platoon many times but wanted to re-live this classic war film. Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe are great as the opposing Sergeants, the rest of the cast support them brilliantly. Oliver Stone's best work.

Better than most on the subject, this film brings home the reality of the Vietnam War. In many ways the film is unique amongst war films in its depiction of what it must have been like to be there. Writer /Director stone is himself a veteran of the conflict so knows his stuff. The conflicting characters of Barnes and Elias may seem overdrawn, but in fact are probably close to the truth.

Acting crew under stress to perform - shows how humans react to pressure and what happens to the individual within the group. Movie depicts humans on the edge - that makes it a great jouney to sit back in our lounge chairs looking into the soul.
