Violence and coarse language

Director: David Twohy
Actors: Keith David, Vin Diesel, Radha Mitchell, Cole Hauser

The daylight can burn you, but the darkness will kill you. From the mind of the writer of The Fugitive comes the pulse-pounding sci-fi thriller, Pitch Black. Experience the psychological terror when a group of marooned passengers must face a pack of terrifying creatures whose only weakness is the light. With little power and dwindling numbers, the doomed passengers turn to a vicious convict (Vin Diesel) with an appetite for destruction and eerie eyes that can guide them through the darkness.

Another fantastic movie played by Vin Diesel, plenty of sci-fi references and horror themes to keep any movie buff happy!

I found it very slow to get into the story, but once it got going it was quite a good movie.

Interesting movie - took me a while to get into - it wasn't fantastic but not terrible either - an in the "middle of the road" type of film that is good 'weekend' waster movie

Great idea but poorly executed. Chronicles of Riddick was a much better quality film, so I sort of felt like this was the poor cousin when watching it!

I first saw this movied when it came on TV years ago, I was channel surfing and happened on it by accident, I missed the very beginning so didn't know what it was about to start with, but then I saw Ms Black from Farscape (sorry can't remember her first name) and realised it was a sci-fi. Being a sci-fi fan I watched it and was impressed. This was my first encounter with Vin Diesel. Incidently is he really double jointed or was it special effects? When I joined Quickflix I just had to see Pitch Black again and see the whole story. I hadn't missed much just a few minutes at the beginning. Wow I'm impressed again, for the true sci-fi space adventure fans this is a must see movie. Can't wait to see The Chronicles of Riddick

I really enjoyed this movie the first time I saw it when it was first released. Finding out it was made in Australia was a bonus too. The Aussie actors in it have done us proud. Oh and of course being a woman, who could pass up on Vin, lol. Great movie.!!!

The prequel to Chronicles of Riddick is watchable. Although Vin Diesel's acting presence here is commanding due to the character, there's not really a lot of acting. Plot is simple: a whole bunch of people running around trying not to get killed/eaten and the lone stranger comes to the rescue. Sometimes it is better to act alone.

Great outing for Vin Diesel, infinitely better than the fast and the furious. While it doesn't quite reach the electric tension, or feature the ground breaking special effects, of Alien or Event Horizon it is still a worthwhile addition to the sci-fi thriller/horror genre and should be a great intro to the Chronicles of Riddick - well worth a watch!
