Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - At World's End (2007)

After Elizabeth (Keira Knightly), Will (Orlando Bloom), and Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) rescue Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from the clutches of the Kraken, they must face their foes, Davey Jones (Bill Nighy) and Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander). Beckett, now with control of Jones' heart, forms a dark alliance with him in order to rule the seas and wipe out the last of the Pirates. Now, Jack, Barbossa, Will, Elizabeth, Tia Delma, and crew must call the Pirate Lords from the four corners of the globe, including the infamous Sao Feng (Chow-Yun Fat), to a gathering that will make their final stand against Beckett, Jones, Norrington, the Flying Dutchman, and the entire East India Trading Company.

The second film in the series is not nearly as good as the first, and by this third episode the carbon-paper was getting very worn. The special effects are excellent, but the film moves from one sequence to another without bothering too much about the plot.

I think they may have dipped into the same pot one too many times with this one! Don't get me wrong it did have some really funny parts and the acting was fantastic, but some of the story line left a lot to be desired.

As excellent as the first of the series. With most of the same characters and excellent acting by Johhny Depp, Geoffry Rush and many others, it is full of action and adventure. Make sure you watch the end of the credits!

Not as straight-forward as the preceding versions of this saga - but a 'fun' movie anyway. The plot line seemed to get 'tangled up', and was a little more difficult to follow. Fun development of the Anaheim ride, at Disneyland, with light-weight escapism. Couldn't see how Singapore fitted into "Pirates of the Caribbean", however. I thought they were a few thousand miles apart. Loved Johnny Depp's reprisal of his character. As always, worth seeing. Orlando

At World's End is an excellent fast paced action filled film to finish off the 'Pirates' trilogy.
Action sequences are bigger, special effects are more impressive and the story is more creative as all the loose ends are tied off nicely. Acting by everyone is A+ on the direction of Gore Verbinski who is an excellent director. Each of the three films get better and better.

I've been a fan of the first two movies and thought this latest one was just as good. The ending was unexpected and makes one wonder if there will be any more. Great movies all of them. However, you do need to watch them more than once as the plot is usually quite complex.

It has its moments (particularly Sparrow's surreal hallucinations and his rivalry with Barbosa) but, overall, it's a baffling clunker of an ending. Most baffling is the amnesia that seems to have struck Norrington, being as he bears little resemblance to the character in the previous two films.

The third chapter in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movies, 'At World's End' proved itself to be an exciting movie despite the length of 168 minutes. With almost endless action and adventure, this is one movie to make your buckle down your hatches, set your crew(fellow watchers) and set sail to yet another blistering barnacle of a time.
This movie once again is packed with the right sense of humour with the right timing to make you laugh and for those with loose eyes, shed some tears. Grab your mates, tie down your kids, fire up the popcorn and serve up the brew and enjoy this top notch swash buckling movie.

They just tried to cram too much into the one episode, so we're never truly involved with everyone's/anyone's story, and often have no idea even what's happening. It's a pity because with some control it could have been extraordinary (certainly some amazing SFX). Instead we get this dodgy randomness.

While this movie is nowhere near as good as the first and perhaps even the second, it is still always wonderful to spend a couple of hours in the company of Captain Jack Sparrow. Popular opinion in our house was that there is too much talking and not enough action (I'm not sure of that myself as there is only so many sword fights one can watch). There was a lot of loose ends to tie up and not much screen time to do it, plus some of the jokes were kind of obvious. But still, definitely worth watching.

Yes, action, comedy and a great cast were plentiful. I enjoyed the movie, yet I couldn't help feel disappointed when comparing it to the first two movies as it seemed to lack the spark/charm they had -- perhaps because it didn't have the classic Hollywood ending.

Not as good as the first two. Took a while for Johnny Depp to appear, and without him there is no point in watching the PC movies at all. Not as much fun as the other two, a little bit too evil, just basically looks like someone cashing in for a quick buck. It is not the worst movie in the world, but I had to watch it in 3 sittings as it was pretty boring in most parts. But as always, Johnny Depp is amazing and worth it to seem him ham it up once again.

Yup, they kinda gave the clue away in Pirate's of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest - that there was another film to be made and so here it is.
Could it be any better - Oh yes, it's good, it's very, very good and who'd have though Bill Nighy would be in a Pirate movie? He too has Johnny Depp's penchant for playing a Pirate.
Now we have the love Triangle, the Pirate fractions, The Indian Spice trading company, feisty Miss Swan, Davy Crockett, William turner Junior and senior and the delightful Jack Sparrow all fighting. Savvy?
Jack Sparrow is lost in a world quite removed from the rest and so the madness ensues and you suspend belief.
This film is as funny as the first, as intriguing as the second yet still delivers good family fun in it's own right.

Whilst the first PotC managed to combine humour and action to create a rollicking good pirate tale, PotC part 3 was a annoying mixture of cliche and too many special effects. The ending is especially disappointing, and seems to suggest a continuation of the franchise...for all our sakes I hope not. A very dodgy ending to something was initially so great.
