What a waste of time
I am not sure what others saw in this but I was bored from the beginning. kids might find it entertaining but it didn't cross the adult barrier enough to keep me watching.
What can I say? It's just gorgeous fun. And it's a treat for those of us who love the Wallace and Gromit style of "animation" rather than the oh-so-clever, but nevertheless delightful, Pixar type of production. Damned cute, me hearties.
Funny from the opening until the credits
Kids loved this movie....even dad watched it and had a laugh. Very entertaining and was watched several times.
The kids thought it was boring and stopped watching it. I thought it had a good story and was interesting.
fantastic for young and old
Not my fave Aardman flick and would certain fail the Bechdel test but enjoyable nonetheless.
I'm not sure what people were expecting when they say they didn't like this movie - I thought it was excellent. No kids in this house, just hubby and me now and we really enjoyed the movie and the extras and will enjoy it again tomorrow. I really appreciate the english humour and accents for a change, love the script, love the sets and love all the funny little bits and pieces that I think many people would overlook - like the tiny background stories going on in most scenes - the shelf in the pirate ship labeled 'medicines and poisons'. Everything in this movie is there for a reason - wherever they could get a joke in they did - street signs, adds in the background, the map.... so clever. And I adored the sea monster at the end. To fully appreciate this movie you have to watch it with an artist's eye and you have to watch it more than once. Gets full stars from us.
It was ok, but there are better in the genre. It missed its opportunities and tried too hard.
I must admit I was a bit disappointed with this film. From the makers of Wallace and Gromit, I expected more.... The film had a rather sketchy storyline, though saving grace I think was Darwin's monkey and the doey eyes of pet Polly. Very amusing bits there. Also the kitchen fight sequence near the end is good! The DVD extras/ flash cards feature is fun.... Overall entertaining, but nothing to rave about. 3 stars.
I appreciate that this took them months and years to make, but really, I had high expectations and it kind of unnerved me. Its rated G but watch out I really dont think any child under the age of maybe 6 or 7 should be watching it. Bit of inappropriateness there.
kids watched it at least 3 times they loved it
Funny, clever, and well made.
Kids loved it. Now want to own it!
The kids enjoyed this. Heard quite a bit a laughter coming from the room. What I saw of it, it was very good
What a delight. Aardman don't disapoint with this wonderfull little ditty. Jokes, both high and low brow and plenty of references to pirate movies throughout the ages, makes it well worth watching more than once. At times, a technical triumph, and yes, very silly.
nice kids movie. bit lame for us adults but still enjoyable.
Great kids movie, a lot of the humour is aimed at kids but adults will enjoy this too, wonderful animation.
Laugh out loud at this very good movie. Wonderful I giggle just thinking about it.
Very funny, with plenty of humour for adults. Excellent soundtrack.
i absolutely loved this, funny as all hell, i was in fits of laughter at times during this. recomended viewing for the whole family, great entertainment
Another classic from the people who brought us Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. Brilliant all-round cast led by by Hugh Grant, Martin Freeman and David Tennant.
As befits the genre, there is a great deal of silliness, but it's great fun. Also to the film's credit, the story-line is easy to follow and within the confines of animated fiction, sort of makes sense. The DVD extra on how the film was made is astounding, showing the time, effort and number of people and their various skills that go into making a feature like this; well worth watching.
Yep, a great Aardman movie -- fantastic animation, as always. A fairly simplistic plot will appeal to kiddies, and the impressive visuals will keep the adults' attention.
Lovely movie! Great for kids and adults! Would totally see it again :)
