Excellent movie; great costumes and scenery! I've seen the live production and enjoyed it BUT this movie gave me more understanding of the story line. The singing is every bit as good, as the stage singing!

A beautifully designed film, lavishly produced and well directed. A good to excellent cast with the possible exception of the hero, who I felt was a bit lacklustre perform well. Beautifuil music. Enjoyed this one very much.

For such a huge fan of musicals and Phantom of the Opera in particular, I wasn't overly impressed with this movie. I thought the set and custumes etc were really good. Not too fussed on the casting, though i was very surprised with minnie driver, i'm not a fan of hers but she was probably the best one in the movie! I found it a bit slow and boring and I dont think it gives the stage show justice.

Should have been a triumph and would have been were it not for the terrible miscasting of Gerard Butler as the Phantom and garish direction by Joel Schumacher. They sexed up the Phantom and took the spirit away from the original story. But definitely worth a look - the rest of the cast is magnificent. Minnie Driver is pure brilliance - she steals the show!

Senstaional movie version of the stage musical. One of the best musicals ever put on celluloid. The cast was brilliant, the sets magnificent, the costumes beautiful and the music simply outstanding. This is Andrew Lloyd Webber's best musical and the film does it the justice it really deserves. I loved it.

I've seen this film twice now and enjoy it immencely. It is true to the stage musical but ads a further dimention to the story that only film can do. The elaborate and luxurious sets with supurb costumes makes this a true feast for the eyes. The huge budget was well spent.

One of the best films you'll ever have the privilege to see! Expecting to watch a movie and ended up getting much more! The Phantom (Gerard Butler) was the same actor from Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. It came as a surprise that he can sing as well as "really" act! All the actors were MAGNIFICENT! For them to do better would be humanly impossible! The setting, FANTASTIC! This movie is not just for girls and ladies; it is also for men who understand passion and appreciates the real meaning of excellence!

I was disappointed and its all my own fault!! Yes, the costumes, set etc were truly wonderful and the movie stayed true to the story and stage performance. But the raw power and passion of Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford was not there.... not by a mile. I know, I know... it was a whole new production but myself and probably a great many others don't want second best. I saw the show on stage and even though it was limited in its sets due to size it shone. This Phantom was restricted by his lack of vocal power and that spoilt it for me.

Sensational movie. I haven't seen the stage production, don't think I want to now. The cast is excellent, music fabulous and haunting, stays with you for days after. The Phantom is so hot, I've fallen inlove with him as I'm sure many women have. The critics that panned this movie have no taste, it's spectacular in every way. Definitely a movie not to be missed.

The first question is always, 'will it be as good as the stage production?' The answer - a resounding yes! The leads, though little known actors, were young and vibrant with great singing voices.

Excellent version of the classic tale. If you have ever seen the stage production or any of the old movies you will be happy with this retelling of the story. Excellent scenery and beautiful costumes add to the excellent acting of the whole cast. Highly recommended to all.

I can't think of a more beautiful and haunting film - absolute eye and ear candy. Lloyd Webber would have been completely thrilled by this and if you are a fan of the stageshow - you just can't miss it. If you haven't seen the stageshow, then what an initiation!! You'd do very well indeed to start with this. Excellent casting, particularly with the lead (Gerard Butler - babe of "Attilla The Hun" and "Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life") who is now my new babe!
