LOW LEVEL VIOLENCE

Director: Gaylene Preston
Actors: Sam Neill, Rachael Blake, Joel Tobeck, Robyn Malcolm, Madeleine Sami

PERFECT STRANGERS is a striking feature from New Zealand director Gaylene Preston (BREAD & ROSES, WAR STORIES). One night, bored thirty-something Melanie goes out drinking with her friends. After getting sufficiently intoxicated, she goes home with a charming man (Sam Neill). When she wakes up, she's on a boat at sea, alone with the mysterious figure, trying to figure out if she's going to live through the day. Stylish and haunting, PERFECT STRANGERS deftly blends many different genres to tell a truly original tale.

Don't even bother......This is truly amongst the worst movies I've seen. It starts off okay but quickly deteriorates into a totally unbelievable plot & set of circumstances. I cannot believe that actors in the calibre of Sam Neill & Rachel Blake would even lend their talents to this utter nonsense !!!

This is a clever and well made movie, all the things it does say and all the things it leaves unsaid make it intriguing. Well acted Sam Neill and Rachael Blake a world class N.Z. movie.

I enjoyed this one. Great acting from Rachael Blake who discovers strength she did not know she had. Fantastic wild NZ west coast scenery. Very suspenseful and tension throughout.

a very odd story but the excellent acting makes it believable and the wild, New Zealand coastline location is a perfect setting.

A bit slow, you have to be in the right mood, but good if you want a dark, psycological thriller.

This movie starts with a really interesting idea of dating/kidnapping but nothing happens - the story doesn't follow ANY line at all. Don't bother, you will simply come away confused and unsatisfied.
