This is really bleak, in fact one of the most bleak films I have seen, no hope for humanity in this case, great acting from all concerned including King tannis Barratheon from GOT. Eva Green gets her boobs out again.
Origional idea but so depressing.
Interesting idea, but not sure I appreciated teh end message
One of the most original and vivid films I've seen. Makes you wonder how you would cope during the event. Ewan McGregor is a stand out. Its not easy to watch at times due to displays of raw human nature. You will think about the themes long after the credits finish.
Pros: Genuinely original storyline and great acting here. The love story hasn't had the Hollywood treatment (this is Europe, folks) and so is vulnerable and realistic. A beautiful film which alludes to all the things we mostly take for granted in being human. Makes you think for days afterward. Cons: The Scottish accents didn't phase me but the audio is poor and dialogue is muffled. The lead actress more of less mumbles her way through the whole film. My husband could barely decipher a word and wandered off to do other things.
The perfect movie to watch to help you appreciate everything you have. A dark but beautiful, poetic film. When it was over I felt really uplifted. Not for the faint hearted.
Yes nicely made with filming and cast all that but absolutely awful film With all the rest no logic no sense and disturbing , the writer must have tried so hard not to shoot himself making this make believe end of the world but seemingly wannabe we can do better even if we lost something original concept. Concept is dreadful and there is no moral of this story. Just very bad if you hate life go watch it.
Boring and slow. I gave up after 10 minutes, and I don't usually give up on movies as I keep hoping they will eventually have something good. This one however was just too slow for me, and the fact that the voices were "blurred" (I imagine for added effect or something like that) and there were no subtitles; I had my volume all the way up and still kept going back trying to understand what they had said.
I found this movie interesting and disturbing. Interesting for the contagion/disease. The thought of loosing eash sense one by one is a scary thought. Disturbing because when things go wrong, so do we humans.
I found thisd movie very difficult to get into and realised I had nearly watched two thirds of it by the time I gave up.
Slow, boring, banal and very unlike other movies dealing with "contagion"
I Kept watching as I have never seen Ewan McGregor in a bad movie but this is one of his earlier ones and it just di not do it for em!!
A genre-bending film that is never as profound as it hopes to be. Part love story, part 'end of the world' scenario, ' Perfect Sense' ultimately fails because neither of these two key component is particularly believable or engaging. I would give it an extra star for trying to be different - but in truth, it fails in that regard too. Both 'Contagion" and the much under-rated 'Blindness' have already covered similar territory far more effectively.
A slow, fairly boring movie but an interesting storyline. Left me feeling unsatisfied.
I liked the fact that this was not one of those typical love stories that ended as they all do. I found the storyline really interesting and it gave me something to think about after it was finished. I was pleasantly surprised with this movie.
I found this to be a brilliant movie, and I was riveted from the first to the last moment. Perfect all around.
Most epidemic movies show the disease from the perspective of the people in authority as they discover then deal with the plague, whereas this movie limited its view to how the disease affected a small group of people, and in particular, two people as they found love. That the epidemic wasn't explained beyond what the main characters experienced was one of the strengths of the film. The perspective of the film was original, as was the plague itself. It's refreshing to see a new take on an old genre, and this film did it with aplomb.
I did not like this movie - it really depressed me - but I kept watching because Ewan McGregor is cute and later realised I should have turned it off when it was clear they would all lose their hearing.
BUT, my 'give-me-an-action-flick?' husband said he got a lot out of it!!!! Who knew? He says it's a parallel to our society - we make adjustments after 'losing' parts of our humanity, other 'senses' fill the gap and then we forget. Of course the movie was compressed in time, but in reality the loss of these 'senses' can be a generation or more. He talked about it for ages ... I wish he would stop because I'm now feeling more depressed but don't let that keep you from watching it, you might get something out of it too.
Perfect Sense made no sense at all. I have never know one actor (Ewan) make so many depressing movies. I couldn't watch it through to the end.
Really interesting concept. Not exactly light viewing but I really enjoyed this movie. Not a happy ending sort of movie.
Two great actors in the worst film I've seen for a long time.
waste of time depressing no hope movie thumb down
I thought it was junk. Wasted time I will never get back.
Needed more characters that wee affected by the contagious disease to get the audience involved more. Best scene of the movie wasthe last but the narration then spoilt it after this heartfelt moment.
Fell asleep during this one
If Contagion wasn't so good this may have been a better movie. Give it a go if you like arthouse, if you dont, give it a wide berth.
Wonderfully crafted intimate portrait of the end of the world, I would highly recommend it.
boring and slow as... thumbs down
Maybe I was expecting too much from this movie, but overall I found it to be lacking any sort of intriguing story!
The Scottish setting, the scottish accents, and the lead actresses tendency to talk softly and mumble didn't help.
This was an interesting perspective on the classic 'pandemic' disaster movie. A little slow but focussed on society's reaction to the loss of their senses rather than the the horror of the disease itself.
Did not like this movie at all although it was about losing your senses from a disease it did not explain much in how it occured.
No mention of how it could be cured.
I really liked this movie, not just because Eva Green is one of my favourite actresses but I like movies that leave me thinking about it long after it ends. It is thought provoking, moving, intriguing and bizaare...Which is why I liked it!
