It's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson's Greek mythology texts and into his life. And they're not happy: Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Even more troubling is the sudden disappearance of Percy's mother. As Percy finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, he and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save Percy's mum, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.

When two teenage boys take a teenage girl on a cross country adventure, & all he's thinking about is saving his mum, you know it's a kids movie. Who knew that Hollywood & Hell were the same place? A few interesting concepts but a bit below my age level I'm afraid.

CGI lacks a bit and I couldn't get used to Pierce Brosnan as a half horse-half man. Just looked wrong! It's more suburban than Harry Potter but not as supernatural either, so maybe better for younger audiences.

Was a pretty good movie.... then I read the book.... and now it seems like a pretty average movie. If you've read the book then you'll probably be disappointed. All in all- a pretty good movie

A very clever concept that went maybe a little too Disnet 'tween market. Still, some great actors in supporting roles, and good fun for the young'ns.

I really enjoyed this movie that would appeal to children from 8-9 right up to the 16-17 that are young at heart and would enjoy something that is not about their adoloesence and heavy relationships. Rise to the challenge just like percy rose to his! Can't wait for the sequel!

I turned this off in frustration after 45 mins. After reading some of the other reviews maybe I should have stuck with it. It lost me....not sure if it is a teen or grown up movie. LOL at Brosnan being a centaur. Drool at Sean Bean. Maybe I'll watch it when I'm in an appropriate mood.

a huge rip off of the 1981 clash of the titans but still enjoyable, favourite scene when they were high on the flowers :P

Fantastic movie for older kids - ours loved it, from the 5yo to the 12yo - and so did we! Great modern tweaking of the traditional Greek mythologies.

Good entertainment in this fantasy with realistic SFX. Especially great for teens because the characters the viewer follows through the story line are teens. Pierce Brosnan plays his most unusual role in this and Liv Ulman is playing in a role more bizarre than the one she played in her Batman sequal and her super hero role. Very exciting movie!

Was expecting so much more from the sneak peaks from previews. Very disjointed for the first half hour or so. seemed like producers were trying to give us too much info quickly and my younger children ( 11yrs) couldn't work out what was happening or why. later the movie seemed to move at a better pace but overall was disappointing. story line does not flow easily if you are not familar with basic knowledge of movie. Pierce Brosnan seemed out of place in his role as well. seemed like a cheap copy of effects from Narnia and Harry Potter.

I'm a big kid (from 40 years ago or more ago) and I liked it!! Contains great acting from young Logan Lerman and typical racing plot (jumping from scene to scene) of Chris Columbus. It was an oasis in the desert of February movie releases in cinemas. The older actors (especially the Brits) ham it up like a piece of Shakespeare which is like the old Greek myth and Roman gladiator movies of the 50's and 60's. While it loosely adapts the bedtime story of the book for 8-13 year olds, the story has been updated or changed for a broader demograhic of 8 to 80 yo's.

Look - I really liked this one. I don't have any kids and still really enjoyed it - a bit of escapism and unrealistic save-the-world themes for a Saturday night was great!
