We all loved Star Wars...until George Lucas went and ruined it! The passion the original Star Wars trilogy inspires in its fans is unparalleled, but when it comes to George Lucas himself, many have found their ardour has cooled into a complicated love-hate relationship. This hilarious, heartfelt documentary delves deep into Lucas' cultural legacy, asking all the tough questions - has Lucas betrayed his masterwork? Should he just have left the original trilogy alone? Is The Phantom Menace so bad it should carry a health warning? Using interviews taken from over 700 hours of footage and peppered with extraordinary Star Wars recreations lovingly immortalised in needlepoint, Lego, claymation and puppetry, The People vs. George Lucas asks the question: who truly owns that galaxy far, far away? The man who created it or the fans who love it?

Very interesting documentary from a fans perspective about the legacy that is Star Wars and how certain things/changes Lucas has done to the franchise has harmed the canon and polarized the fanbase.

Geoarge Lucas is certainly a person who polarises the Star Wars Fan community of which I am a part of. I lament the fact that much of this documentary is spent interviewing people who have a very big problem with Mr. Lucas revisiting and changing certain scenes in the saga. For example in the original Cantina scene Gredo did not shoot at Han Solo before bieng shot himself. A creator of art has every right to change it if they wish. Star Wars does not "belong to the fans". My advise to these people is to try to embrace the changes as I have done...or not. Either way, no amount of crying will change anything. Overall, I did not like this as it was not as unbiased as I would have liked.

Han Solo shot first, right? If opinions to the contrary make your blood boil, this doco was made for you. But if you either don't know, or, worse, don't care who shot first, well then you can probably skip this and rent the latest teenage vampire movie instead.

This is movie for anyone who thought that George Lucas ruined what he started. Lucas is now considered a greedy egomaniac for milking his cash cow for all its worth. His constant tweeking and re-editing of the original Star War trilogy has enraged fans worldwide. This movie showcases fans talking about the why's and wherefore's of the debate. Among all the talking heads are excerpts from the many, many fan films about the Star Wars legacy. It's amazing how clever people are. The debate is even though with both Coppola and Neil Gaiman defending Lucas and his actions. Very entertaining.

Interesting enough -- just a series of sound bites from various fans and critics, questioning Lucas's reasons for the entire Star Wars series. Sadly, all the footage is from fan films and not the actual movies (copyright issues perhaps?). One for the true Star Wars fans only.
